A video has surfaced this evening of the incident today involving civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and Tea Party protesters on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Lewis has alleged that he was called a n***** by the protesters.
Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN), who was walking with Rep. Lewis, says he heard the word n***** fifteen times.
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) claims "It was a chorus" of people yelling "n*****."
The video, filmed by Marooned in Marin and posted at YouTube, shows Reps. Lewis and Carson walking together, with Rep. Cleaver several yards behind as they fight their way through the Tea Party patriots like they were in 1965 Selma, Alabama.
Reps. Chaka Fattah (D-PA) and Maxine Waters (D-CA) are also walking behind Lewis in the video.
View the shocking video here.
Funny how they can hear that when they want to, but never acknowledge being a communist.
LOL I fold.
You made me smile this morning!
Personally, I don’t care if someone DID call them ni##...
If someone who is intent on destroying my child’s future isn’t worthy of being called the most vile names I can think of, then who is?
You guys know that “Kill the Bill” is secret code word for the “n” word. You can’t hide your racism.
:-) And you made me smile too! :-)
The LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist members of the US House of Representatives are about to open a VERY LARGE can of Whoop Ass!
I agree!
Even FOX News was repeating the lie this morning!
Having watched this shameful display, I can only hope that
one of our Republican FRiends will stand to correct the record and that Congressman Ryan becomes unemployed next January!
Please, someone tell me that he has a strong conservative running against him in November!
That was Major Owens. Same type of moron, different day.
Must have been a white person with a blackened face because Charlie Rangel said that there are never any black people at these gatherings.
You supposed to play it backwards. They yellin’ in code.
>>What does it prove? What does it disprove?<<
BINGO! What has this come to? Even IF someone shouted the dreaded **HORRORS!!!** N word, does that trump our non- violent efforts today??
And what are all those small black items all of them were holding? RECORDERS PER CHANCE?
“And what are all those small black items all of them were holding? RECORDERS PER CHANCE?”
Cellphones, recorders, whichever. I would like someone to ask in the media to have those videotaped or recorded slurs from those devices. I will bet my left knut there aren’t any slurs.
I suspect this story was the norm for Southern whites back then. After being used as racist fodder this weekend and reflecting upon my childhood, I’m now having doubts about much that I had previously sympathized in the movies and books I read about the civil rights era. I know that much of it did happen and was horrible, but I now wonder if some of it wasn’t exaggerated. I played these movies for my children and discussed black history from a book a black friend had given me to ensure they understood the civil rights era and what our country had been through to get to where I mistakenly thought it was today. I’m now feel the complete fool.
The funny thing is that we would fantasize about the first black president. We envisioned him to be a Sidney Poitier character type in a movie of great intelligence and wisdom. We prayed that it would happen in our lifetime so that we could see it. After the first gulf war, we very much hoped Colin Powell would run for president and was disappointed when he said he would not. Instead, we got Obama in 2008, a man whose hand I wouldn’t deign to shake much less vote to lead the country. He stole that fantasy from us. He has set race relations back 40 years instead of uniting the country.
I understand your point. I was thinking more along the lines of this video not proving much even if that lone voice had shouted the slur.
One voice does not a “chorus” make, and there have been no other recordings, as far as I know, that show anything remotely substantiating the accusations made by those “esteemed public servants and gentlemen”.
