“Earlier this year, Space issued a statement that strongly disapproved of the Senate bill. He said he told a group of roughly 13,000 constituents who participated in a telephone town hall meeting with him on Friday night that he’d vote against the bill.”
At least he did that. Many of these RATS are hiding out under their DC desks and not talking to their bosses.
Good news.
“As far as I can see, the moment that Deem and Pass was abandoned”
I know they ‘say’ they’ve abandoned it, but has it *really* been abandoned? I guess we’ll find out much more tomorrow.
Best result - it goes down.
Second best result - they delay again.
“YES! I’ve been calling, emailing and generally making a pest of myself because he is my rep here in the 18th district. Finally he is listening. Hopefully they don’t have the votes to pass this awful bill.”
Congratulations and thank you!
“They are true patriots mor importantly they are moral human beings voting against their short term political interests.”
Mebbe. But it might actually be *in* their ST political interests.
“Space said the version of the bill he supported last year taxed the wealthiest Americans, rather than the middle class, to pay some of the working poor’s health care costs. “
So he is against this bill not because it is a bad idea, but because it doesn’t soak the rich enough ? What a socialist moron. Another idiot that doesn’t realize part of why healthcare costs so much is previous efforts to tax the ‘rich’, which just happens to include every doctor out there.
Strange as it may seem, I think the key to reducing healthcare costs lies in switching to a flat tax on income and ditching the socialist progressive income tax brackets. How much less would a doctor be willing to charge if his income was being taxed at only 10% instead of 42.5% ?
As for Obama, 2012 is still a ways off and anything can happen. He was on the verge of losing in 2008 if it wasnt for an out of nowhere economic meltdown in the middle of September, 6 weeks before the election.
Who, or what, caused that?
No one wants to know?
No enquiry at all?
Beccera from CA was on C-Span a few minutes ago and let the cat out of the bag. He said that at the end of the day he thinks they’ll win. He was real keen on making a big deal out of stating they would win. So, they haven’t won yet and they don’t have the votes - just expect/hope to by the end of the day.
Also, rules have changed - they will vote on the senate bill first.
