"Heroes Day" gave scores of Tucsonans an early view of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds from the flight line at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Friday.
The event was organized to accommodate Tucsonans who might not be physically able to deal with the extensive walking and huge crowds expected during Aerospace & Arizona Days 2010, which starts today.
More than 100,000 spectators are expected to attend the two-day air show.

What: Aerospace & Arizona Days 2010.
Where: Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Enter off East Golf Links Road on either South Craycroft Road or South Swan Road.
When: Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 8 a.m. No admission after 2.
Cost: Free.
Parking: Free.
Do bring
The Officers and Enlisted Spouses Club at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is sponsoring a food drive in coordination with the Tucson Community Food Bank. Spectators can drop their canned goods in receptacles at both entrances to the air show. The Food Bank is requesting non-expired canned-good donations only, no boxes, glasses or plastic containers. Ideal donations include: beans, meats, soups, tomato products and vegetables.
Don't bring
Bags and backpacks (those with infants can bring a small diaper bag).
Balloons.
Coolers.
Lawn chairs (rentals available).
Pets (service animals allowed).
Uniforms worn by non-military members
Weapons of any type.
Water and other liquids (free water stations will be located throughout the display areas.
