As part of today's rally to stop the Democrats' health care reform legislation thousands of protesters descended on the lawn of Capitol building. But many more were also using the occasion to visit the their congressional representative and tell them what they think of the bill.
However, Capitol Police recently stopped allowing any of the peaceful protesters to enter into congressional buildings. Crowds are now gathering in front of the House and Senate offices, demanding that they be let in to air their constituent concerns.
Great report, thanks!
Well not exactly. Not able to stand another minute of FNC telling us they had the vote, I switched over to hear CNN complaining that the tea party patriots were rude, loud, used racial slurs and spat on a member of congress. Never mentioned how many attended that I heard but were quick to paint all as an unruly crowd!
‘disturbing the Rules Committee meeting inside. It was explained to us by a couple of the Congressmen the force and intensity of our presence earlier today may have helped to eliminate the “Deem and Pass” procedure’
Great post! Disturbing them... LOL
Several times today at the rally we were told by different people that they hear us inside.
I wish we didn’t leave at 5:30 or so. We will be there tomorrow wearing ‘Flip this House’ shirts.
“We will be there tomorrow wearing Flip this House shirts.”
gotta wash them out first
Thank you for doing this. You are America’s backbone.
Was that picture from today’s rally?
TAXMAN BRAVO ZULU!
I just don't know. I'm so tired. If only I could be two Ninas, and this one could stay home and sleep, or maybe even do some laundry. I guess they were tired at Valley Forge too, but I just pawned the decision off on Steve. We'll do as he chooses.
WTF??? Excuse my "French", but that is just a freakin' LIE!
Some technology never goes out of date.
Mrs. Taxman and I will join your prayer service tomorrow — albeit we’ll be in Jacksonville!
Glad we could make it to DC. I have to confess, I wasn't particularly motivated to go at first... it was kind of a depressing ride down from Connecticut, assuming the 'RATs will pass this vote. Still, it's better to go down fighting I guess...
Hey, that's A-OK, Mr. and Mrs. Taxman! We're gonna need all the prayers we can get for this horrific vote tomorrow... :o)
I hear ya... :o)
We're down here from Connecticut, and supposed to check out of our DC hotel tomorrow. Not sure if we'll spend another night, but we'll go and rally in front of the Capitol until early afternoon, I guess. Not sure how long we'll stay...
Maybe if we scream loud enough, we'll scare a couple of jelly-spined democRATs into voting no. I guess it's worth a try... ;-)
Tears in my eyes as I read this. Thank you and all the others for standing and yelling for me and my family. I’m in your debt.
If tomorrow's vote gets cancelled, may I suggest Pelosi's home office?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forgive me if this has been mentioned...I just got back from the rally and am DEAD TIRED (but exhilerated!!!). My impression was that there were so many people approaching the office buildings that the powers that be (probably Capitol Police) got nervous and shut the building.
What ensued will stay with me the rest of my life...it was magnificent. The crowd was magnificent, magnificent. I really did think the lot of us was going to be arrested! :-D
Thank you so much for these FABULOUS on-the-spot reports!
Thanks, john... ;-)
