Tea Party protesters refused entry into congressional buildings
Washington Examiner ^ | 03/20/10 3:15 PM EDT | Mark Hemingway

As part of today's rally to stop the Democrats' health care reform legislation thousands of protesters descended on the lawn of Capitol building. But many more were also using the occasion to visit the their congressional representative and tell them what they think of the bill.

However, Capitol Police recently stopped allowing any of the peaceful protesters to enter into congressional buildings. Crowds are now gathering in front of the House and Senate offices, demanding that they be let in to air their constituent concerns.

Obama is the commander in Chief of the military.

I know democrat Obama will order the military to fire on American citizens. What do you think the Army will do then?

Yours is the only voice of reason on this thread. Most people posting here must have never set foot in Rayburn, Cannon, or Longworth, because you’ll be damned if you think 30,000 people can fit in the halls of those office buildings, and you’ll be damned if the Capitol Police is going to create that kind of fire hazard.

You just made me dive for my dictionary.

deign: to condescend to give or offer
deem: to have an opinion, to judge

The word “deign” implies that our majority Democrat Congress actually does give our citizens representation, while all the time it refuses to reveal the text of the bill until after it is passed, and conspires to keep the this unpopular bill from a vote in violation of the law and the Constitution. This is hardly “representation”.

On the other hand, to avoid a lawful vote, our Democrat Congress plans to have Obama sign this unpopular bill into law after having asserted a subjective “judgment” (”deemed”) that this had passed.

So, so even though condescension is fundamental to Democrat Party, it is always trumped by power lust. So in this regard “deem” works better than “deign”.

"Most people posting here must have never set foot in Rayburn, Cannon, or Longworth,"

Security was tight in the adjacent office buildings before 9/11. After 9/11, it's just plain ridiculous. The Capitol Hill police just don't let people trounce as they please throughout the office buildings.

deign: to condescend to give or offer

Actually I was considering this context:

Main Entry: deign

Pronunciation: \ˈdān\
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French deigner, from Latin dignare, dignari, from dignus worthy — more at decent
Date: 14th century

intransitive verb : to condescend reluctantly and with a strong sense of the affront to one's superiority that is involved : stoop <would not even deign to talk to him>

OK. I was being somewhat facetious in my original post (# 103). “Only if they deem to represent us” was kind of a play on words that referred to Harry Reid’s announcement that in lieu of subjecting the Health care bill to a vote, the Democrat leadership would simply “deem the (bill passed”, then make further adjustments prior to sending it up for Obama’s signature.

I agree that the Democrats normally “deign”. But they’ll “deem” when they have to.

We own that building. An army of us can take chainsaws to it any time we like.

That's us, up on the balcony of the Rayburn Building, around 2:30-3pm or so... one of those "Second Revolution" Tea Party American flags is ours!

The number of Tea Partiers on Capitol Hill today was between 25,000 and 50,000 according to the rally organizers! CBS reported "2,000". Yeah right.

From what I understand from other Tea Partiers... they were allowed to enter the Rayburn and Cannon buildings to visit their Congressmen's offices in limited numbers, a few at a time, and they had to leave their signs and flags outside. We met several people who got into these two buildings... We just met a couple from Cincinnati 15 minutes ago who got into the Cannon building and got into Maxine Waters' face around 3pm this afternoon...LOL!

We're back at our hotel room watching C-SPAN... Diane Watson (D-CA Los Angeles) just spoke - live - on the house floor about how the protestors today (Tea Partiers) used the "N" word, spat on her fellow members, "ranted and raved" and basically did other "despicable things". THIS IS BS... IT'S A LIE!

John Garamendi (D-CA, Walnut Creek, Antioch, etc.) apologized to all his fellow House members for the supposed "ill treatment" they received by the protestors today.

Watson and Garamendi discussed how they didn't think "hate like this would rear its ugly head again" toward them. After all, they're just angels "trying to make good healthcare available for all Americans".

It seems as if the democRATs are using the race card YET AGAIN to portray Tea Partiers as racists and lunatic fringe. THIS IS A LIE! We were there... THIS DID NOT HAPPEN! Same 'ol lies the democRATs always fall back on when they're under pressure! So we're being slandered AGAIN, as usual by the 'RATs.

About the worst thing the Tea Partiers did today was jaywalk en masse, to the minor consternation of the Park Police. LOL!

The news media and Democrats are telling lies to smear Americans. Fox is no better now - they sound like cheerleaders for OBama. I cancelled TV almost a year ago for good to insure they do not get my money.

First, God bless you for being there today. Second, of course it's a lie. And by tomorrow, the lie will be plastered all over the papers and MSNBC & CNN.
