This is incredible:

But House Democrats say privately they could score a public relations coup by killing this strategy and doing things the old-fashioned way.

from FOX blog

Yeah, RIGHT. /s

"San Fran Nan will not even bring the Senate bill up for a vote tomorrow. It’s dead Jim."

I don't think anyone has mentioned CBO yet. The final CBO scores are supposed to be out sometime today (the first scores were preliminary). It's possible that Nan got a heads up and the scoring on the Reconciliation Bill is going to be less favorable than originally projected.

The original Senate bill (H.R. 3590) might be their only option now. Is it dead? We will know by this time Monday afternoon. I wouldn't bet the family farm on it not passing.

I am totally confused by the fast switches/options/antics/rumors (take your pick) flying around right now.

I do not have a clue, and usually I can figure these messes out.

It’s likely a large number of Dems, feeling the heat from their constituents, told Nancy they would vote “No” if they House tried the “deem and pass” strategy.

Do they have the votes? Who knows at this point...

At this point, it’s about Obama getting the senate bill passed in the house. He doesn’t care what he has to promise in order to do that and he wouldn’t care if the EO was thrown out by the courts either, because the senate bill would have already passed the house at that point. In fact, it makes it easier for him to put anything under the sun into the EO, because he knows it won’t withstand scrutiny.

That’s a good call bigoil. Word may have leaked on the CBO scores, and they may not be good. Might postpone things a bit.

I think we cared about “How” it would pass because there would be some dumb sheeple who actually would believe their Dem congressman who would say “We’ll, I never voted for the Cornhusker kickback, the bill I voted for corrected that”.

We’d see a bunch of Dems get mileage out of that at town hall meetings.

It’s no different with what they’re talking about doing with Stupak. It’s just a phony shell game. He can sign an executive order and then act like he’s upset when the Supreme Court throws it out. In the meantime, he gets his senate bill passed in the house and signed into law.

Not so. If it passes Senate Republicans will thwart any efforts at amending the law. That will be a political death trap for Congressmen from competitive districts who vote for the law on an up or down vote.

They’ve been assured by Obama and Pelosi that the law will be amended, but it won’t, and they’ll be left twisting in the wind.

“They must have the votes and probably had them all along.”

Then why haven't they voted on the Senate bill? Nothing’s changed since 12/24 except the worsening public opinion and the Brownie election (huge.) But the bill hasn't changed. So if they had the votes all along, why didn't they just call the vote.

Methinks they're still not sure if they have the votes, and with all the ‘deem’on pass nonsense, they've also sufficiently confused enough of their own caucus into thinking they can simply pass a set of amendments to the Senate bill - which actually cannot happen unless MAO-bama (the usurper) signs the House passed Senate bill into law.

Now if MAO-bama does sign that House passed Senate bill, and the House initiates changes, those changes would have to go the Senate, which will be held up by procedural maneuvers conceivably til after November? It could get very messy.

I don't know that the Stupak crew, nor anyone else vying for House amendments trusts that process.

And they've got hell to pay.

"White House officials were working on an executive order that they hope will win over a substantial number of antiabortion Democrats."

You would be Stupid Stupak to take the bait if Obama says he won't use federal funds from the bill to fund abortion. Stupak, you do know Obama can rescind an EO at anytime?

“no, it means they could be in trouble with all of the goodies not attached to the bill.”

Right. They may not trust the process, nor each other (read: the House RATS don’t trust the Senate RATS). They may also be about as confused as we are with all the stupid head fakes by PelosLIE. Not sure where we stand.
