I disagree. I think it is very good that politicians know if they act outside the law and the constitution they risk hanging from lampposts. A docile electorate has only invited more corruption and outrageous actions by politicians.

Why do you assume this was a political statement? And, if it was, why take for granted that it was someone on the right who did it? Might just as easily been some dirt-bag who was turned down for SSI or just your run-of-the-mill Niagara Falls thug out on a drunken spree.
