NEW BOSTON (March 19, 2010)
SNIPPET: "At least 35 bullet holes were discovered March 12 when a security light was changed at the church near New Boston.
Authorities say they may have been made by shotgun pellets.
Hilton told the Texarkana Gazette that it must have happened since January when the steeple was tightened, because the bullet holes werent there then.
Bowie County Sheriffs Office investigator Robby McCarver said Friday it looks like someone was trying to shoot out a street light and "the church was in the background and got hit.""
SNIPPET: "New Boston is about 100 miles northeast of Tyler, where the investigation into a string of area church fires led to the arrest of two men in late February."

Shotgun pellets are a lot differant then bullets.
Would some members here explain why these churches are being attacked?
Who is doing it, and for why?
Just quoting the text, riverrunner.
Let me see here...35 bullet holes.....might have been made by shotgun pellets......how many pellets are in a 12ga #6 shot shell??????????
Talk about stretching the truth and alarming gun control nuts.
Seems like it would have taken only 1 shot to make at least 35 BULLET HOLES.
Just making a statement of fact.
It takes a lot effort to shoot dozens of bullets into a buiding then to hit it with dozens of shotgun pellets.
Dosen’t sound to me like the church was a target. Just got in the way of someone shooting out a street light.
225 pellets in a 1oz load of 6 shot.
The title, IMHO, is meant to mislead.
Like a bar I once worked at, with walls full of bullet holes from when a manager & a bouncer got drunk after closing and were shooting at the trophies.
Was it a white Christian church? If so, why the concern?
Shotgun pellets out of a #6 shot don’t make bullet holes.
Sick minds do sick things.
boys will be boys...

Now THAT I can emphasize with.
Some MORONS on our Board hired a 'lighting consultant' and now our once quiet and countryish looking community looks like TIMES flocking SQUARE ON NEW YEARS EVE!
We have a Street Light almost every hundred feet. Our little cul-de-sac has four of the dam things. We basically need WWII Black Out Curtains to go to sleep.
Many a times I told the wife I'm gettin' my 9mm Mak and shooting them damn things out!
12ga 2 3/4 load of #4 Buck = 34 pellets
12ga 3 inch load of #4 Buck = 41 pellets
Journalist Getting the Vapors alert!!
uhhh Dave is that you?
Just kidding. Back in the olden days when I was young frisky and lived in Chi., we did that in the local tavern 'hangout'. The Owner was a recovering alcoholic who was sober for decades. Then he met a woman who got him drinking again (she was a drunk) and then bingo, he buys a gun for 'protection'. Even though the place was never robbed, going back to pre WWII days when his father owned the place.
Anyway, after closing time we'd all pull out our pieces and have target practice in the Tavern (it was a loooong bar). The owner would go first and we'd take turns at whatever target he picked out. We'd shoot for about an hour, or whenever the owner was close to passing out - whichever came first.
Natch this was before Chicago was anti handgun crazy as even an undercover Chi PD Narc was with us - he turned me on to Super Vels. And the Fine for 'illegally' carrying back then was like a $25.00 ticket.
(but an alcoholic off the wagon and with a .380 in his hand isn't a pretty sight)
pics...we need pics... remember the 22 shell found on the streets of ny... didn’t they bring in swat? brain-dead libs trying to MAKE news... really, sick folks shoot at anything... also, Christian churches being shot at, is just a sign of the times...catch the perps and punish them accordingly
It is a bit of a stretch...misleading....to call shotgun pellet pockmarks “bullet holes”!
