JACKSON, Miss. (AP) A lesbian high school student embroiled in a legal flap over her school's prom policy has received a $30,000 scholarship on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Constance McMillen was speechless Friday when the talk show host pulled out an oversized check from the Web site Tonic.Com, a digital media company.

I married my dog last week in San Freakcisco, I cross-dress on the weekends, and I am trans-sexual.
Hey Ellen...am I eligible for a scholarship?

I am not of homosexual lifestyle, but what people do in *their* homes is *their* business, not mine.

Though I am not fully aware of the situation, I came across a TV interview a few days ago. The interviewer said to an organizer of the Boston St. Patty's Day parade “You refused to allow gays to march...” The organizer then said, with a conspicuous smile, something like “I don't know if they marched or not...” Meaning, marching with a gay banner wasn't going to be allowed but there may have been gays in the parade.

“Next, someone will want to bring their goat to the prom...”
hmmmmm.....I wonder if that’ll get one a full ride to veterinary school?

So nobody gets a prom.
Classic lib thinking, I don’t get to do my special and different thing, so nobody gets to.
They apply this with everything from Christmas decorations to Mother’s Day.
I really wonder people just don’t rebel.

Actually — generally, I like Ellen too. She’s very funny, typically non-political, and doesn’t reference her sexuality much at all.
From one perspective ... it is her money, and she can give it to whomever she wants for whatever reason. That being said, I think she gave it to someone who is entirely undeserving and contributed to this child defining the rest of her life by her sexual behavior.

No doubt if someone had brought a goat to the prom (if it hadn’t been canceled) Ellen’s little friend there would have been the first to complain.

She wanted to “do it” in public. These folks are simply not satisfied with the home only scene.

Next, someone will want to bring their goat to the prom... Big deal. Odds are half the guys would have brought dogs. And half the girls would have brought pigs.
This girl screwed many kids out of a prom because she wanted to make a public issue about her sexuality.
I think the school district screwed the kids out of the prom. Instead of holding the prom and ignoring this girl and her girlfriend they chose to make a martyr out of her and ruin it for everyone else.

Did she “let Ellen” afterwards as a thank you?
To: ConservativeStatement
I’ve never watched her show. She’s disturbed.

As long as we're making wild-ass guesses, my guess is that the school board figured they would probably lose this case in court if they held the prom and banned her, so rather than be forced to hold a gay prom, they canceled the whole thing. I think that school board rocks. The responsibility for this mess lies with the selfish teenager with the sexual disorder.

Pyrrhic victory.
This young woman is going to pay for this the rest of her life. DeGeneres has corraled her into a lifestyle that the young woman freely chose, but before this may have un-chose. It’s going to be tough to go back to a normal, happy life.
