It has always been a mystery how Jacob Zuma, South Africa’s polygamist President, can afford to keep a roof over all those wives and his 20 children.

Now taxpayers have the answer. They have unwittingly been picking up a large chunk of the £6 million bill for a series of home improvements, including a helicopter pad and a clinic at his rural home in KwaZulu-Natal.

Since the genial Mr Zuma, 67, was forced to admit last year that he had fathered his 20th child with a woman who was neither one of his three wives nor a fiancée, his ostentatious lifestyle has come under the spotlight like never before.

Good lord, what the hell happened to South Africa? Mandela may have been a commie, but at least he was civilized.

Can't have been too terribly civilized, married to that bloody demon Winnie Mandela.

Wonder what ever happened to Chief Butalaze (head of the Zulu land)?
He had the upper hand going into this thing.

Hard to keep up with the happings there.

Was going to go there again for the World Cup but no thanks. It's about a $6,000 trip during June. About $2,000 after that.

Anyone who would be amazed at what is happening here (or, for that matter, would take the time to write an article on the subject) knows nothing about how things are done in Africa.

Not that I like Mandela but Winnie carried on while he was in prison. Once he got out he quickly figured out what was going on and divorced her within four years

Mr. Zuma and the OctaMom must be related. Bring all these kids into the world; then expect government (i.e., the taxpayers) to pay for everything.

Good lord, what the hell happened to South Africa?

The same thing that happened to Rhodesia, Haiti, and East St. Louis.

Can’t say how credible it is but I’ve seen internet accounts that once the civilized Mandela is gone. That tribal passions will be unleashed on whites and they will be victimized Zimbabwe style. Many whites there are concerned about this. So I have read

If that happens I’m sure we can count on Hollywood celebrities and leftist politicians to protest against the unfair treatment of whites in South Africa just as they did against apartheid.

/sarcasm

>> tribal passions will be unleashed ... victimized Zimbabwe style.

I’m afraid that’s exactly what we’ll see. Sad.
