U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer said today he plans to vote in favor of health-care reform.
The freshman Democratic Congressman had been undecided in the weeks leading up to the vote, but made his decision after the Congressional Budget Office released its estimates that the bill will reduce the deficit by $130 billion over 10 years.
I needed to see the bill and the Congressional Budget Office score, Schauer told the Citizen Patriot in an exclusive interview. The bill fundamentally does what I hoped it would.

Aren’t you Michiganders peeved about your state becoming a third world entity? What do your neighbors and friends say? I cannot fathom how any Demonrat would get reelected in Michigan after Granholm, Stabacow, and the like have destroyed the state.
Aren’t you embarrassed that your arrogance is reminiscent of France.?
Arrogance has nothing to do with it. It is a beautiful state and I have many relatives there. It’s just sad.
Yeah its sad and we could use help a hell of a lot more than the endless disdain heaped on us.
After all, Pete Hoekstra is our next likely governor. Schauer is likely to lose his seat to Tim Walberg (A true fiscal and social conservative) Chances are that the nags at NOW are going to hand Bart Stupak’s seat to a republican as well.
We’re fighting back but could use some help and encouragement.
You have all the prayers I can muster. I am originally from NE Ohio and saw what happened there (basically about 2-3 years behind Michigan’s regression). It’s astounding how many people choose to just flee to the South. I did it for job reasons - couldn’t find one in Cleveland. When you see homes sell for $100 in Detroit, once a vibrant city, it kind of takes your breath away. The point of my post is when will people wake up... from what you are saying, it seems people are starting to. Let’s hope it continues and those elected bastards join the near 20% unemployed there on November 2nd.
The only way they’re getting rid of me in Michigan is with my toes in the air. This is my home and I’m not giving it up without a fight.
The saddest thing is that it was the GOP that handed the 7th district seat to Mark Schauer in the first place. Tim Walberg voted against the party and opposed the big bank bailout so the NRCC stripped him of funds right before the election and he lost to Schauer by 2%. They have to take Walberg seriously now because early polls show him with a double digit lead.
Remember the River Raisin is a very similar statement to Remember the Alamo.
He’s a freshman bastard. I called him.
He doesn’t qualify for a pension or any goodies.
VOTE HIM OUT.
Every member of congress is up for election every two years.
Works for me!
yes of course
but some are not running for re election and that is why I asked the question; was this particular Dep Rep running for reelection.
A reasonable question, don’t you agree?
