Sarah Palin's father backs Tarkanian's Senate run
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL ^ | March 15, 2010 | LAURA MYERS

Posted on 03/18/2010 12:57:12 PM PDT by americanophile

Sarah Palin's father endorsed GOP U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian in his first radio ad as the primaries kick into high gear.

In Tarkanian's first radio ad, Chuck Heath reaches out to Nevadans who voted for the 2008 GOP presidential ticket of John McCain and running mate Palin and urges them to vote for Tarkanian as the true conservative in the primary.

"You supported my daughter Sarah Palin, now please join me in supporting another strong conservative: Danny Tarkanian," Heath says in the 60-second spot.

The ad is clearly aimed at both conservatives in the GOP and the Tea Party movement who have adopted Palin as one of their own.

Palin is the headline speaker at a March 27 rally in Searchlight -- the hometown of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. -- to kick off a cross-country Tea Party Express tour.

Palin's father says Tarkanian is against abortion, for gun rights and, "He will fight to cut taxes, slash spending, and end budget-busting pork barrel politics."

Heath, who like Palin is from Alaska, notes he already has campaigned for Tarkanian in Nevada.

"I can tell you firsthand, he is the guy conservatives want fighting for them against the business-as-usual crowd in D.C.," Heath says in a copy of the ad provided to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

He’d get my vote if I lived in Nevada.

Was just reading on Rasmussen that in Arizona, it’s McCain 48-Hayworth 41. I don’t think that’s too bad for Hayworth given the berating he’s been receiving from McCain.

Tark Sr. had the greatest comment ever on the hypocrisy in NCAA basketball enforcement:

"The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, that it's going to put Cleveland State on probation for three more years"

If young Tark is a chip off the old block-WATCH OUT WASHINGTON!

I like Tarkanian a lot. Sarah has already said that she likes both Lowden and Tarkanian so she is feels torn between both candidates. I will be happy with either winner. The sooner Dingy Harry is gone the better

I and my husband are voting Tark. Lowden is a closet dem. After the caucus last year, a lot of Nevada republicans are extremely angry. I don’t think Lowden has a realistic chance.

Personally, I prefer Danny Tarkanian to Sue Lowden, but I would never call her a closet Democrat. Re: the money donated to Harry Reid, I have to note on her behalf that back in the years (21 years ago) when she donated to him, Reid was not a flaming liberal. He was generally viewed as a moderate Democrat. He was even pro-life. It was not until later that he sold his soul to the Devil for power and recanted of any particle of moderation. Furthermore, around that time period Lowden & her husband owned a casino. That they donated to his campaign is not shocking. A lot of businesses try to cover their bases and donate to both sides.

No, you didn’t, and I didn’t mean to imply that you did. Someone else made that comment, and I was intending to respond to them while using the info in your post re: donations.

Just so everyone has a heads up, I have written a book about Harry Reid that should be devastating. It will be available at Searchlight Tea Party. Excerpts will be published on FreeRepublic starting in April.

I don’t want to cross the boundaries for self promoting, but anyone from the Tarkanian campaign please Freepmail me - it’s a huge amount of opposition research. A lot going on here. Very juicy details, but waiting for the right time to make the big push.

And no, I didn’t really join just a month ago.

My comment about being a closet democrat wasn’t about her donations, it was about her politics. To me, she is a RINO and thus essentially a closet democrat. I’ve looked at, and know her record since I live in Las Vegas. A vote for her is a vote for a moderate dem. I won’t do it.

Sarah is so irrelevant & unpopular that a candidate in Nevada covets her Dad’s endorsement.

It’s not bad at all. McCain just isn’t trusted anymore on key issues like illegal immigration - the ‘reform’ of which we know is coming down the pike.
