Sen. Coburn to House Dems: If you vote 'yes' this time, I will expose your pork and filibuster your nomination after you lose

Dr. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., the Senator from bomb-throw:

SEN. TOM COBURN (R), OKLAHOMA: I want to send a couple of messages to my colleagues in the House.

If you voted no and you vote yes, and you lose your election, and you think any nomination to a federal position isn't going to be held in the Senate, I've got news for you. It's going to be held.

Number two is, if you get a deal, a parochial deal for you or your district, I've already instructed my staff and the staff of seven other senators that we will look at every appropriations bill, at every level, at every instance, and we will outline it by district, and we will associate that with the buying of your vote. So, if you think you can cut a deal now, and it not come out until after the election, I want to tell you that isn't going to happen. And be prepared to defend selling your vote in the House.

This is the Washington, D.C. equivalent of "I shall avenge unto the fourth generation and salt your family's plot of land with your blood." For once, some real change in D.C.

Instapundit just put this up:

BART GORDON PROMISED A JOB AS NASA ADMINISTRATOR FOR A HEALTHCARE VOTE? Rand Simberg is not a Bart Gordon fan.

If true, this has at least two implications. First, the administration is willing to throw Charlie Bolden under the bus. Second, they’re also willing to throw the new plans for NASA under the bus for health care, because Gordon (who just happens to be the relevant committee chairman) has expressed skepticism about them.

There’s also a rumor that another retiring Tennessee Rep., John Tanner, has been promised a job as Ambassador to NATO. I wonder if Republicans in the Senate will interfere with appointments like this? I’d say so.

It’s really starting to stink now. I bet this is what triggered Coburn to make his threat.

Truthfulness is always the best policy. I wonder if the MSM will let it out.

I am really wondering if the Dems care about themselves on this or is it the President and the Party over all? I don’t think any other bill has really pushed them this far before. Far beyond the ‘line in the sand’ (so to speak) that they have set on other issues/bills. They seem to be a mass running of the lemmings taking place like never before.

Isn`t he the fellow that asked for a Saturday protest march on DC?It was on this morning`s Glenn Beck show.Glenn added that if we can`t get to DC then we should show up at the local offices of pro-ObamaCare Reps.

Well said. Hope he means it. This may be burning off the dross. Ryan's one hero. Coburn may be another. So tired of seeing people like Graham or McCain stood up as though they're some kind of opposition.

I would think more Dems will think about retiring after their experience with this bill.

Nope. They’ll bury it, unless they can figure out some way to spin it that Coburn is a crackpot.
