Under budget rules, any reconciliation bill must reduce the deficit by at least $1 billion. According to the CBO, the reconciliation bill reduces deficits by $19.8 billion over 10 years. However, as the final page of the CBO report notes, higher education spending changes — student loan subsidies — account for $19.4 billion. Which means that the reconciliation changes related to health care only reduce the deficit by $0.4 billion.

That also gives Speaker Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic leadership a lot of carrots to offer on the health care side. They’ve got $18.4 billion they can use can to buy off wavering members.

That would mean about $60.00 for every man, women and child in the US. (more if we just count the legal ones) Why not give us each $60.00 so we can “stimulate” something!~sarc

This is like the last days of the Roman Empire where the crown of Cesar was up for the highest bidder.

Well, there we have our answer. Even under their ludicrous assumptions, Obastard care saves only $400 million over 10 years. However, since they will be hiring 12,000 new IRS agents just to enforce Obastardcare, which will cost at least $600 million a year just to pay basic salaries for those 12,000 new Obastardcare agents, that means that, even under the DEEM-ocrats' ludicrous, false, misleading assumptions, there will be a net deficit of at least $560 million a year in perpetuity, which means that Obastardcare will leave a deficit of at the very least $5.6 billion ($560 million times 10) over the next ten years. That means it fails even the requirements to constitute a valid reconciliation bill.
