"I believe that our nation was founded on limited taxation and small government. Through our founding fathers infinite wisdom, they gave us the keys to freedom and justice for all us. It is up to us to protect those freedoms for the next generation.

Like many of you, I am disgusted by what I see coming out of Washington from our elected officials.

With current representatives like Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Senator Harry Reed, President Barrack Obama and our own Congressman Pete Visclosky, our great nation is on the fast track towards bankruptcy and our freedoms are being sacrificed daily for their own political advantages.

I watched in horror this past year how these “elected officials” tried to hijack our healthcare system, stick us with an enormously expensive cap & trade climate bill and destroy our capitalist free markets with more government bailouts.

I attended those tea parties and what I saw was working Americans standing up for their freedoms as well as their children’s freedoms, only to be smugly dismissed in derogatory terms by some in the media and our so-called friends in Washington.

I was also dismayed by Congressman Visclosky and his elitist attitude at our town hall meetings -- in which he dismissed our concerns about ever-expanding government, increased taxation and our dislike of nationalized healthcare. I think the Democratic Party got a huge wakeup call with the Scott Brown election in Massachusetts. As Senator Brown pointed out, he wasn’t running for Ted Kennedy’s seat, but the People’s seat. I say the same thing to Rep. Visclosky. You, sir, are not entitled to this seat – you have to earn it. And, with all due respect, you and your party have not earned the trust of the people of this district.

From the desk of Eric Olson...

Hello,

First let me say “thank you” for visiting my campaign website.

You might be wondering: Who is this guy, why is he running and what does he stand for? Let me introduce myself, My name is Eric Olson, I am running for the 1st Congressional District. I am married to my wonderful wife Susan and we are blessed to be the proud parents to our 4 year old son Zachary.

I was born in Gary Indiana in 1966, grew up in Demotte Indiana and attended William Penn College and Valparaiso University. We are parishioners at Holy Name Church in Cedar Lake and formerly at Our Lady of Consolation in Merrillville. I am also a member of the National Rifle Association and support Pro-Life organizations. In my business life, I have extensive experience in the financial services and investing industry. I worked as a stock broker for Charles Schwab Inc. and Bank One. Since 2004, I’ve been a field agent with the Knights of Columbus – working with families, retirees and business owners to preserve and plan for their current and future needs.

Like many of you, I’ve enjoyed good financial times and suffered through economic setbacks. I know what it is like to make ends meet. I have deep respect for the business community in the 1st District – these are men and women who take risks to better their lives and the lives of employees. If elected, I will be a friend to the business community. After all, it is your investments that create jobs – not the federal government printing money and mortgaging our future! I also fully understand the needs and concerns of working families, retirees and the importance of good educational systems. I believe that vouchers for schools will bring about true reform to our schools systems. I also understand the needs and concerns of working families in our district. I will do everything I can do to help encourage new business within our communities by being a cheerleader to all that we offer in Northwest Indiana. This will help us to create MORE jobs for our district.

Why am I running?

I believe that our nation was founded on limited taxation and small government.

I also question Rep. Visclosky to answer for his dealings with PMA.

“PMA employees or the company's clients contributed $1 or every $5 of the political donations to Visclosky's campaign during 2003-2009. At the same time, Visclosky helped secure more than $23 million for the company's clients.

Once a top-notch lobbying house that specialized in securing lucrative military contracts for its clients, PMA fell apart amid a Justice Department investigation into allegations that it funneled donations to lawmakers through so-called straw donors.

The U.S. House ethics committee has said it launched an investigation in December into whether Visclosky traded campaign cash for earmarks.”

So Rep. Visclosky, did you think your actions were above board? Do you think you served us well by taking their political donations? I challenge you to answer these questions!

The time to say enough is enough is NOW. It is “We the people”, not “We the elite and special interest groups.” We are Americans who deserve to have our freedoms protected and be truly represented by our elected officials.

Thank you for your consideration and your help Together, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE in 2010!

God Bless!

Eric L. Olson

Candidate for Congress in Indiana 1st District
