A kitchen worker at an exclusive English boarding school has been arrested for trying to poison a batch of soup being prepared for students, administrators said on Wednesday.
The director of the Stowe School in Buckingham 120km northwest of London said a household cleaning agent was put into the carrot and coriander soup, but no one was harmed because the soup wasn't served to students.
Kitchen staff became suspicious of the soup because of an acrid smell, head teacher Anthony Wallersteiner said.
"Before any meal is taken up from the kitchens to be served the food is tested, and it was during the routine sampling that one of the duty chefs discovered there was something acrid in the soup that was being prepared," he said.
The soup would have been offered to about 650 students who usually have dinner at the school, officials said.
Thames Valley Police said the suspect is a 58-year-old man with health problems. He is suspected of trying to administer poison with intent to endanger life and inflict grievous bodily harm.
Wallersteiner said the suspect has worked at the school for two years.
The suspect has been suspended and will not be allowed on school grounds, officials said.
This guy must have been a wizard.
No name? Amish?
That’ll teach them little buggers to complain about the mystery meat.
Muzzie?
He’s 58, so I’d bet he’s just a self-practising wizard.
“Hes 58, so Id bet hes just a self-practising wizard.”
I’m betting he used eye of newt and a moose limb...heavy on the moose limb.

In the UK it is common, in fact usual, for restrictions to be placed on the reporting of names and addresses of suspects, on the grounds that it is prejudicial to the case. Publicity can make its own reality, especially as people believe there is no smoke without fire.
Once (and if) this guy is convicted, all gloves will be off and the papers will print his name, but at the moment the Judge probably considers the matter sub-judice.
See, he has already received prejudicial treatment. He should sue.
Very droll.
I dont think there is any doubt he has done it.
Thank you for recognizing my weak attempt at humor.
