Don’t confuse the actions of one nun with the teachings of the Church.
Trust me, these nuns speak only for themselves. They don’t come close to speaking for the 59,000 female religious in the US, as they claim they do.
There is a nun at my children’s school who is with the Sisters of Mercy. She’s Irish to boot, from a large Catholic family. She’s a beloved part of the school, but you don’t mess with Sister Mary Sarto, LOL. She’s been there long enough that she’s teaching the kids of some of her former students :)
