I managed to get through to Congressman John Barrow's Washington office to urge him to vote against both the Reconciliation Bill and the Slaughter Rule. The person I talked to said that the Slaughter Rule was dead. I asked when that happened, and he said "As of 15 minutes ago." That was about half an hour ago when I spoke with him. I searched Free Republic for news of this and found nothing. Also nothing on Google News.
So was he mistaken? Has anyone else heard anything on this?

If Slaughter is dead, they must have the votes. Just Damn
I suspect the Dems ae regrouping to plan their next move.
Try calling back and see if you get the same answer, or better yet, if they'll give you a source. :)
I agree. They must have the votes.
Still..... KEEP HAMMERING!!!! That is only speculation!
They slaughtered the Slaughter Rule?
Should we call Sgt. Slaughter?
My own thoughts on this.
That might be a fair assumption.
It is always a good plan to ask for the name of the person giving you the information. If it were dead, as of 15 minutes ago, do you think the bottom-tier flunky answering the phone in some obscure congressman’s office would know about it that fast? I’m not saying it isn’t dead, I’m saying it is always a good plan to verify.
How in the world can any of them actually be undecided at this point?
I don’t think he was giving me the bum’s rush. He seemed to be willing to engage in conversation. He said that Pelosi was exerting tremendous pressure on the House members.
Waiting for their payola?
No way. A lot of those votes depend on the Slaughter rule. Kucinich, for example.
Waiting Santa’s phone call.
