In NH, McCain touts Iran success, decries Obama tactics ("I'm confident of victory" over J.D.)

McCain this year finds himself in a primary battle with former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth in his effort to win a fifth six-year term in Arizona.

"I'm confident of victory but I have taken every race I've ever been in seriously, and I take this one seriously as well," he said.

He said he holds town-hall-style meetings throughout his home state, just as he did in New Hampshire during his 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns. But, he added, "None are quite like Peterborough," which he called his favorite venue.

McCain said that from Arizona to New Hampshire, jobs and the economy are the top issues on voters' minds.

He said Washington's biggest mistake in trying to fix the economy "was that, after assuring the country that the TARP (Trouble Asset Relief Program) would be used to stem the housing crisis, they turned around immediately and bailed out the financial institutions. And of course housing remains a very, very serious problem."

McCain also said that while Wall Street is doing fine, many small businesses are still unable to secure adequate credit. He backed a plan by Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown to "give businesses a payroll tax holiday and pay for it out of stimulus funds."

McCain said that Congress and banks "keep talking about how they want to help small businesses, but small businesses still have a big problem with obtaining credit and loans.

"One of the reasons the tea parties are so active is because of the inequity and unfairness of all of this bailout," he said.

Another reason is that the GOP is crawling with `moderate’ douchebags.

Yeah, John, the very same financial institutions who fund you!
Goldman Sachs, Citicorp...and AIG, who gave you more money than anyone except Obama.

McCain-Feingold: Anyone who so treasonously craps on our Constitution deserves to be permanently barred from every holding an office of trust; especially one that requires supporting and defending said Constitution.

Why is the AZ senator campaigning in NH? I just don’t understand that reasoning. At this point I’m really leaning towards voting for Hayworth simply because it feels like we have an in absentia senator. Maybe if McCain spent more time here in AZ he would understand that we’re tired of illegal immigration.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Juan hears his country’s call to make another run for the White House. Surprised, but not shocked. And just why is he holding a town hall in NH?

A question for the Sarah worshipers. If Juan should decide to run for president again, must Sarah defer to him and step aside?

Or, when does here loyalty debt to Juan run out?
