WASHINGTON, March 17 (UPI) -- Work on the virtual fence along the U.S.-Mexican border will stop, freeing up its share of stimulus funds, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.
Napolitano said Tuesday the halt to work beyond the two pilot projects in Arizona was pending a broader reassessment of the concept, and the $50 million in economic stimulus funds planned for the project would be diverted to technology such as mobile surveillance devices, sensors, radios and laptop computers, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Napolitano's fault! Obama's fault! Opening the border up to illegals!
this is insane!!
I know someone who started to actually watch this thing online?
He made over 2 DOZEN calls to the border patrol and stopped about 50 people so far from gettin in and also stopped several drug trafficking attempts!
All from watching it online!
and now they want to stop it???
“Virtual” fences were only meant to fool virtual idiots.
REAL fences, however, work.
And the violence in Mexico increases......CONSIDERABLY!
This administration is full of inept fools...
It's a government run project. What in the hell do you expect???
The Republicans want cheap labor and the Democrats want cheap votes. Neither seem to care that the rest of us will pick up a huge bill so their supporters can save a few bucks.
Oh, my!! How inspirationally brilliant. Just as the Mexican drug wars near and cross OUR borders, just as the number of dead AMERICANS begins to rise, our brilliant government decides to cease protecting our land. (Is it true there has been military ‘movements’ along the Canada’s southern border. Those Canadians you know!!!
(Sorry Canada, but I needed the name of our other bordering country.)
Gov. Perry has repeatedly asked for National Guard to be stationed along the US/Mexican border, to no avail.
The "problem" is actually a part of their sick solution, sadly.
We don’t need a “virtual” fence; we need a WALL! Then we can talk about which of the illegals we keep and which (most hopefully) we send back. Let them take back their country from the drug cartels and the elitist oligarchy, or let them suffer with what they’ve allowed to happen to their country! < /rant >
