Anyone else find it strange the the US is probably the only significant country that doesn’t celebrate or acknowledge March 8 as International Women’s Day? Considering how we are such a paragon of feminist ideals in this country, I’m surprised it hasn’t caught on. Kidding aside, it’s actually a nice custom: men give flowers and gifts to the women in their lives to show how important they are to them. The women can be mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters, etc.
I’ve never seen it celebrated in Australia.
Mentioned in the media (as in this article) and by feminist groups, but not celebrated.
Wikipedia has a list of nations that observe it - Australia isn’t on it. Nor are the UK, Canada, New Zealand, nor as you observe the US.

You’re right of course, since her birthday, Valentine’s day, Mother’s Day, Sweetest Day, Christmas and New Year’s just aren’t enough gift receiving days for your average woman.
Data point FWIW: here in the UK I've never even heard of this 'International Womens Day'.
