WASHINGTON Attorney General Eric Holder says Osama bin Laden (oh-SAH'-muh bin LAH'-din) will never face trial in the United States because he will not be captured alive.
Holder sternly rejected criticism from Republican lawmakers on a House Appropriations subcommittee, who contend it is too dangerous to put terror suspects on trial in federal civilian courts.

Well that's interesting, Mr. Holder. Is that a death threat? Are you stating for the record that Obastard has instructed Department of Defense personnel to kill Mr. bin Laden in the event they capture him? You do know, don't you Mr. Holder, that that is a violation of the Geneva Conventions, even, I believe, as they apply to so-called illegal combatants?
All of which raises one nagging little question: why is that group of Navy Seals still being prosecuted for giving a captured terrorist a fat, bloody lip?
In short, who made you judge, jury, and executioner, Mr. Holder; who made you God?
Such typical liberal hypocrisy.

Holder would talk out of the other side of his mouth.... if OBL were black.

I know what I would do. Execute him before he could ever reach the United States. Problem solved. That is what Holder seems to be saying, but as an AG he really can't say that.
The problem with the Dems is neatly encapsulated by Holder's response. The fact that they haven't considered the possibility of OBL's capture means that they haven't thought seriously about what they'd do with him if they did.
This omission also allows them to treat the Gitmo Detainees as petty criminals instead of illegal combatants. If you lump OBL into the Gitmo detainees it would crystalize the public thinking as to what to do with all the detainees.
I never believed that US troops were likely to bring in OBL. I just think that OBL is not physically inside any region where the US military operates with a free-hand. Therefore, if we were to get him it would be one of his inner circle betraying him to the Pakistanis, Saudis, or Yemenis who would then turn him over to us.
So then what? Holder seems to be saying that he hasn't considered any of this. Heck, this is what we pay him to do. Consider the alternatives, no matter how unlikely.

Agree. UBL is either dead or hiding in an Iranian castle courtesy of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Admanadinajad Amadnutjob (whatever) or at least in country with no extradition (and socialized medicine or the best doctors money can import). There. Fixed it for you.

I've always thought OBL did not survive the bunker busters that flattened parts of Afghanistan after 9-11.
I guess our intelligence has done voice analysis to confirm the lastest communication is indeed him.
Unless they thought it best for the world to believe him still alive?
To: Nachum
I thought bin Laden was convicted of murder right after 9/11 in abstentia, so why would he need another trial?

IMO he doesn’t need a trial - he needs execution.

Holder’s statement is an implicit ok to assassinate ObL; does this mean that the previous presidential directive forbidding assassinations has been rescinded?

Good evening. I hope you are feeling well.
First thing I thought of when I heard this. How can you bring a dead man to trial?

They protect terrorists more than they protect American citizens. I can imagine how bad things are going to get over the next three years.

OBL is living in Hollywood. Sean Pennhead and crew just love him.

We already paid the price, twice if you count the World Trade attack in 1993. Too bad that thousands of people from all over, not just NY, paid the ultimate price 9 years ago. And too bad so many fellow NYers learned nothing from the horror.
