Poll: Should the GOP govern like Democrats?
Conservative Examiner ^ | 3-16-10 | Robert Moon

Posted on 03/16/2010 8:40:57 AM PDT by aquapub

Since Democrats have made it abundantly clear that the only way their "by any means necessary" war on the America is going to end is by being forcibly removed from office, it appears guaranteed that the GOP will soon be back in charge.

When this happens, Republicans could decide to adopt the "post-partisan" ways of "change" and start insulting, trashing and excluding their opponents at every turn while relentlessly misinforming the public...

Should the GOP govern like Democrats?

Should the GOP begin bringing knives to the knife-fight?

I say not.

should be sub-titled: “Have they learned anything yet?”

If the R’s get power back and squander it again like they did the last time with their stupid “power sharing” deals, they can fold their tent and go away, I’ll vote for every 3rd party candidate that runs and if that just elects more Democrats, fine. The R’s had better wise up.

If they were smart and fought for what Americans want, Americans would be behind them 100%.

But this is the GOP we’re talking about. Spineless pathetic cowards that don’t deserve office.

Well the first step is to have no moral compass.

In that way, you can’t be branded a “hypocrite”, because you don’t believe in any sort of fixed system of right and wrong. Anything goes. If it feels good, do it. What’s right is what the person feels is right at the time.

To a Leftist, being a hypocrite is multitudes worse than being a simple axe murderer or child molester.

They should govern like men with integrity but do it with a iron fist.

Stop letting crimminal behavior slide and start sending people to prison reguardless of party.

It’s very easy - Have the new GOP speaker not appoint any Democrats to committee positions. Schedule no minority party bills for vote. Don’t bring a knife, bring a cannon. When they complain, just say we are applying the Pelosi doctrine.

The short answer would ne no.

I do believe though, that any policy that the RATs have put into place that is contrary to what the Constitution allows, needs to be overturn and reversed with all due haste.

I also believe that any agency or individual that is operating in violation of law needs to be immediately defunded and stripped of all authority. The individual should also be prosecuted if found to have been acting in an illegal manner.

The GOP SHOULD “by any means necessary” adhere to the US Constitution with it’s guarantees on individual liberty and the limits it imposes on the government.

The GOP should be waging war AGAINST government feel-good tyranny.

But this is the mixed up GOP of today and not that of Reagan or Goldwater so I don’t get my hopes up.

The desire for payback would be richly deserved, but I think the best course is for the pubbies to ignore bammy and focus on trimming down the leviathon. Let bammy explain why he defends greater size in government, America wants economic progress and a diminished government. Can anyone plausibly argue that a move to a flat tax structure would not be the answer to Americas cyclical binges with the idea of entitlements? Possibly a Constitutional amendment to treat all citizens as equals via taxation would be the way to frame this debate. If the majority of people want bigger and ever growing government, then they should at least be honest in proportionately bearing the responsibility for their appetite. Lets use this opportunity to slay the beast of envy and class within our Republic. Only then, can any sustainable model of behavior be contemplated.

There seem to be different philosophies of government. One view is that government is in place to rule. The other view is that government is in place to govern.

The ones who would rule wish to put legislation in place that controls the populace and makes it serve the will and wishes of those in power.

The "governing" model attempts to protect individual rights and keep order so that the populace is free to pursue life, liberty and happiness.

Unfortunately, neither party is pure in this. There are some Republicans who wish to rule; and there are some Democrats who wish to govern.

What is important is that each individual American understand the difference, and elect people that will govern, not rule. The KEY is to educate individual voters about the two philosophies.

Yes and No.

Yes, they should govern like democrats in that they should never ever do anything stupid like “power sharing” and other “bipartisan” nonsense. The democrats are not about serving the public, they are only about lording power over it. All they will want to do is reclaim it, and it must be denied to them. As they wish to deny any power to the GOP now.

Since the democrats are all about lording power of the state over the wishes of the people, the GOP should not govern like that. This time, they should not lose their way. The GOP needs to go to Washington in next year with a collective axe, determined to chop 0bama’s all-consuming monster down to size.

When it comes to taking back our country and returning to our Constitutional values, “any means necessary” actually makes sense to me. That’s not “ruling” though. Ruling should be done according to the law. Not twisting the law, but following it.

Yes, ram it through.. The big difference is our plans are good for America. Privatize everything that can get 50.1 % of the vote, period.

Republicans could...start insulting, trashing and excluding their opponents at every turn while relentlessly misinforming the public and violating every pledge they've made.

Should the GOP govern like Democrats?

No, far better to let them trample all over us and the Constitution. /sarc

Man up! Stop being weenies!

No need to lie, though. The truth is bad enough. If they would just speak out!

Why don’t we first try:

(1) transparency
(2) aggressive waste cutting
(3) cutting the budgets of empire-building departments like the EPA
(4) earmark elimination
(5) re-introducing a and passing a term-limit amendment
(6) introducing an amendment to limit spending growth
(7) introducing simple anti-gerimander amendments in each State with great fanfare.

I think that taxpayers hate the girls-club-like “games” being played by DC’s “professional” politicians regardless of party label.

Of course, if necessary, a Republican-controlled ethics committee could enforce a little more civility by placing under its microscope the most hyperbolic partisans in the most un-ethical Congress ever.

Better yet, start running investigations of all tax “errors” of all former Dem chairmen and CRIMINAL investigations for all Dems who sat on any defense or national security committee.

Emphatic yes. Until, ‘12 it will be a cat fight. The GOP has to understand that the Fascist are still in charge of the Executive.

‘13, the first duty of the new President, before the address, sign a recision of all executive orders since ZerO took over.

Yes the GOP needs to play hard ball when they regain power, kick every single democrat off every committee, then assign Nancy a broom closet for an office, and reduce all pay to Democrats to zero. Just for starters.
