Militant and hate group Internet use grows: report (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, up 20% in past year)

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The use of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube by militant and hate groups grew by almost 20 percent in the past year, a report by the Simon Wiesenthal Center found on Monday.

The study, using research by the center and tips from the public, found more than 11,500 social networks, websites, forums and blogs promoting violence, anti-Semitism, homophobia, hate music and "terrorism," an increase from 10,000 last year.

"The numbers are probably, at the end of the day, multiples of that," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the center's associate dean who has been researching hate on the Internet since 1995. "That should be taken as a low ball figure."

Extremists also were heavily promoting online the idea of operating as so-called "lone wolves" rather than as part of a group, the human rights group named after the late Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal said.

Who’s defining ‘hate group’? Under this presidency, the Boy Scouts, Christians, fishermen and hunters are likely to be included.

I certainly don’t trust their definitions.

The founders’ beliefs would certainly be classified by this group as a “hate group”.

Guys like this Rabbi are living in a time capsule.

Anti-semitism is rampant among the Left intelligentsia, especially in Europe, and combined with the hatred of jews by muslims may well pave the path to another holocaust perpetrated by mullahs with WMD.

Meanwhile, Rabbi Cooper diligently searches the Internet daily for any web postings by moronic American nazis...

Of course, according to Reuters and Yahoo, hate groups include the republican party, Tea Party contributors, members of the NRA and conservatives in general.

Bascially anyone who is sick of political correctness. I think the PC brigade and their race baiters had better take a look at their own actions and maybe they’ll understand why people are venting more and more and fed up.

Exactly, this does seem like a worrisome report when they lump in the very subjective terms like "hate music" and "homophobia" with terrorism. The PATRIOT Act gives the government greater power to pursue people that commit crimes from their computers. This is exactly what people warned about when it comes to the PATRIOT Act and anti-terrorism measures, one day these type of restraints might be used on Americans. Just look at that Fed report that warned about right-wing militias and terrorists, I think it even mentioned 3rd Party Bumper Stickers! You may ask, what does that mean? What will they do about a Bumper Sticker? Well, one day when we have random checkpoints to get through the main arteries of NYC I suggest you don't have any Ron Paul bumper stickers on your car or else the search maybe a little more intrusive. Though I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories, I do think we will be under more of a Police State for the rest of our lives.

Actually my numbers indicate hate is down 4.5% from the previous year. How? Because I said so and my numbers are just as valid as theirs.
