Yet another self-important revisionist anti-Iraq War movie bombs. Every time Hollywood sinks another $200 Million into yet another disaster project like this, I smile...

Green Zone first week returns of $14.5 Million on an investment of $230 Million.
Gotta love it!

“One of these stars is Matt Damon, who is portrayed as such an idiot that all his dialogue consists of is his grinning stupidly while saying, “Matt Damon!” The puppet Damon ends up dead, his head snapped by a Team America hero. “
To be fair, the reason this was, was because the puppet came out very bad and so they just ran with the appearance.
Just for the sake of truthfulness.

public indifferenceUm, no. But thanks for playing.
If the public were indifferent, Damon's movie would have fared considerably better. Be certain, the public is not indifferent.
With the exception of Avatar, anti-American films don't do well. Were Avatar anything less than a 3D motion capture/computer animation extravaganza, I'd dare say it would have done about as well as Ferngully. I only know of two folks (libs) who have actually seen it.

UH Huh. Universal may end up on the financial cutting floor if they keep backing dogs. (apologies to dogs everywhere)
Wow, they are in the tank for 200 mil. Yikes.

Ah, if only Damon had invested a considerable amount of his own fortune in making the movie. That would be even sweeter.
BTW, on an (almost) completely unrelated note, a remake to the 80’s action classic “Red Dawn” is scheduled to come out this summer. I’m wondering how much of the film’s politics will be Damon-esque this time around?

Thanks for posting the delicious details about the Green Zone. I heard on the radio that Green Zone came in second to Alice this last weekend and had no idea it had been smoked. Hopefully Green Zone tanks quickly and turns into a major money loser for the studio.
OT - I heard Tom Hanks' ignorant comments about WWII on Laura Ingraham's show this morning and they come across even worse that they did in print since you can hear the snidely superior tone in his voice. IMDB lists quite a few products involving Hanks coming up this year and next which I sincerely hope flop big time. He is definitely on my permanent sh!t list.

I understand there is going to be a new Market instrument so people can buy stock or ETFs on movies. Anyone have any details on that?

I still find it ironic that the HOLLYWOOD sign on the hill, which originally read "HOLLYWOODLAND", was to advertise a new housing development in the hills above the Hollywood district of Los Angeles.

We have real people getting killed and maimed by IEDs in Afghanistan right now. I think it was very careless for Time to use “IED” in such a nonchalant fashion to discuss a movie’s box office.

Keep wasting it, Hollywood.

I saw this movie yesterday because it was billed as another Bourne Identity and while it was interesting in spots, I dozed off several times. As I looked around the audience as we exited the theater and it seemed to me the overall anti-war message was largely lost on them.
