How come the word "polarizing" is seldom used in an article about Mr. Obama or any other Democrat? BTW, did Canada have socialized medicine way back in the 1960's when they took Governor Palin's brother to the hospital? I don't believe they did, but why ruin a good story that slams Sarah with facts?!

The wildly popular, but equally polarizing former vice presidential candidate

The Sin-tinel just had to get this dig in, didn't it? After all, Obama is the great unifier, isn't he?

However, polarization might be what is needed right now. It is time to separate the wheat from the chaffe, liberalism from conservatism, Rinos from conservatism, ....

Reagan was also accused of being polarizing because he had divided the nation into two groups: The 59% of the nation who voted for him and the the 41% who voted against him.

One person told me they did. But, if you look up Canada nationalized medicine. It says it was enacted in ‘82.

That's the part I don't understand. Why is she considered polarizing? By all accounts she seems like a really nice lady. She's not doing controversial things like George Tiller was. Why hate her(unless you fear her). Her political obit has been written so many times it's got to be driving her ideological opponents in the MSM crazy.

Palin is "polarizing" because the media polarizes itself against her.

Why? Because if they don't, I suspect she will be loved by many, many independents and even some libs.

Therefore out of desperation, the MSM has set all its firepower against her.

And she praised Florida's weather, noting that it is much better than Alaska, "where it's 10 degrees below Congress' approval rating."

She sure knows how to stick it to the usurpers.

On Friday, Palin advocated drilling for oil and natural gas to gain energy independence... advocating for... lower taxes, less spending, more freedom and smaller government... also singled out one Central Florida Democratic politician: U.S Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando. Palin said voters need to remove the fiery millionaire lawyer in November. "Do it for the rest of America," she said in a speech lasting about 40 minutes.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.

Good point about the loaded concept of “polarizing”.
It’s nonsense but they apply it to people like Sarah, precisely BECAUSE they still can’t bring themselves to apply it to Obama, who richly deserves it.
( I guess the idea behind this is “hey, we’ve got the word
‘polarizing’ laying around, we’ve got to use it every day, so let’s apply it to Palin, since we certainly can’t apply it to Obama—after all, we voted for him’)
BUT, what I am seeing day by day and week by week, is a process whereby, by the time it’s over, Sarah Palin will
have drawn about half of America’s semi-committed Liberals in addition to quite a healthy percentage of Apathetics
over
to her (and our) side. She’s that good.
This ‘polarizing’ label is already coming unstuck.
I expect the MSM a year or two from now, will be congratulating itself on noticing that the “once-polarizing” figure of Sarah Palin is now , somehow, a lot more popular and “mainstream”.

Sarah Palin is the most archetypal mainstream American public figure since Ronald Reagan. To call her "polarizing" is to say that a substantial number of US citizens hate America and everything good that it stands for. There can be no other rational interpretation. Such ebenmies of America are to be squashed in the dirt like stinking stinging insects and not let up.

I love the “poor man’s teleprompter” line! She needs to continue to use that because she’s really good at self-deprecating humor and it just makes those who get all wee-wee’d up and attack her look silly when she laughs it off.

"but equally polarizing former vice presidential candidate "

Probably the most polarizing figure in the last 100 years sits as pResident in the White House today.

The kenyan has totally split this country down the middle, and makes it his daily duty to piss off more Americans with every teleprompter reading he does.

It is not Sarah Palin who is "ruling against the will of the people" and trying to ram a bogus healthercare plan down our throats, it's the kenyan.

As a matter of fact, at this juncture Sarah Palin has only one power - the backing of the people. But that is the most formidable power of all.

I agree that Palin is "polarizing", because if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. She is a staunch conservative; we have too many "non-polarizing" people in the government already, they're called 'liberals' and 'RINOs'.

Because Palin is a Conservative, she is supposed to be "polarizing"...she is supposed to rally people of similar beliefs and principles. She is not after appeasing the liberal/progressives, and they find that very "polarizing".

If you walk down "the middle of the road", you will get hit from both directions.

One thing is for sure, the kenyan and even running off the folks who voted for him, and Sarah keeps attracting more folks...so WHO is polarizing? If she wasn't "polarizing", she would be "bipolar", and who wants (another) bipolar president?

Thank GOD that Sarah has the courage to be "polarizing", the bipolar appeasers are the cowards of the world.

Talk about "polarizing"! Just read this:

"Found in: John Adams, The Works of John Adams, vol. 4 (Novanglus, Thoughts on Government, Defence of the Constitution) - NO. III. - paragraph 144

"Obsta principiis, nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers, and destroyers press upon them so fast, that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon the American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The people grow less steady, spirited, and virtuous, the seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and expectants, until virtue, integrity, public spirit, simplicity, and frugality, become the objects of ridicule and scorn, and vanity, luxury, foppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole society."

John Adams words castigate the "arbitrary power" holders in Washington today who have gained their offices by promises to "redistribute" the earnings of hard-working citizens,

Because Americans hate Obama. Nothing polorizing when everyone is on the same page -- expect the freebie-nuts.

The other question is, why use the phrase ‘lashes out.’ Sounds so reactionary and defensive. From what I’ve seen of her speeches, I’d venture to say something like, oh, “pounds,” or “pummels”, for example, might be a better turn of phrase.

And, it’s alliterative! “Palin Pounds Pusillanimous Politicians”

Polarizing is a good quality. There are two parties. They should have two different ideologies. This SHOULD be polarizing. Two moderate party platforms are akin to one party.

The Republicans should start to use “polarizing” and “partisan” as positive terms. Republicans on the right, democrats on the left, and let the voters decide.

Canada nationalized health care in 1966 under Lester B Pearson. Tommy Douglas (The so called father or medicare) brought it to Saskatchewan (a province) in 1962.

FYI, a foreigner cannot just walk into a Canadian hospital so if Palin’s brother was brought there it seems reasonable to me to assume he paid for it.

It should be noted that Tommy Douglas’ party is a distant 3rd (4th in Quebec) in Canada with almost 0 change of ever forming government
