I knew Damon was an uber-lib, but it’s a shame this movie is so slanted. I REALLY enjoy the Bourne saga, but I won’t be patronizing the theater for this new movie.
The Bourne movies were a blast at the US too.
no on this one
And people are shocked why? My rule for guessing the politics of a movie are; if any actor in the movie was a member of F.A.G. (film actors guild) in Team America you can bet it will be liberal and I won’t watch it. The issue I find interesting is that these damn idiots bitch about the wars and the soldiers yet they find it perfectly ok to pretend they are one in a movie and make millions of dollars. Hypocrites!
“The movie centers on Army Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller, played by Damon, who is assigned to search for weapons of mass destruction in the weeks following the shock-and-awe campaign of 2003.”
To me, this is the most fantastic lunacy of the left...they believe in all of these massive conspiracies (including demolition of the WTC) that would involve hundreds of people, yet harp on the fact that there were no WMD...which could have been easily solved in a few days by a a few covert insertion teams...and yet they continue to churn this kind of crap out...lunacy. Absolute psychotic lunacy.
Mind you, we have our own "degraded" chemical weapons in storage (Redstone, Edgewood, and other locations) and they're considered very dangerous. Iraqi chemical weapons, on the other hand........no big deal.
OK.
So don’t go see it.
This Ugly little commmie will never get a dime from me watching his movies..Hollywood is loaded with ilk like this and everyone needs to ban all movies that have commies in them..Below is a portion of an article..
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2010/02/howard-zinn-911-truther-communist.html
Movie star Matt Damon recently worked with Zinn to turn the book into a documentary for America’s history students. Damon, who grew up next door to his idol, stated in Dec. 09 that one of his favorite books was A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn, a book he first started reading in 1980 at the age of 10.
No doubt Howard Zinn will be appropriately rewarded for his life’s work.
Luckily his young protege, Matt Damon has time left to consider his political direction.
Apparently this movie is based ‘loosely’ on Army chief warrant officer Richard (Monty) Gonzales, I’d like to read his review of the movie...(I think)
Why does this anti-war, anti-america movie seem 3 years too late??
FUMD
Did someone expect a pro American movie to come from Hollywood?
Can someone watch a pirated copy of this so we can know how bad it is without lining the pockets of the Hollywood Left?
The ‘actors” - the troops themselves, (live link below)
The writers/directors - long time war correspondents. Sebastian Junger (wrote “Perfect Storm”) and award winning Brit filmographer, Tim Hetherington.
They embedded with a small platoon of the renowned 173rd AIRBORNE, 2-503rd BATTLE CO, in “The Most Dangerous Place on EArth” - the Korengal Valley in the high Hindu Kush mts. of north eastern Afghanistan, up against the Paki border.
BATTLE Co., first deployment was a hellishly long 15 months, out on a spit of mountain side that they literally pick axed for shelter and cover - pick axed at night, fought by day. They were to fight through over 1,000 firefights in that first deployment, taking the heaviest KIA/sounded losses.
Junger and Hetherington were boot on the ground with the troops for a year - not the usual 2-3 weeks. They became part of the platoon, running, dodging bullets - junger was even in a vehicle that struck an IED and was wounded.
They simply filmed and recorded in REAL TIME - day by exhausting day, fire fight by harrowing firefight - as it happened. No script, no politics, no ‘brass’.
to keep Hollywood totally out of it, they submitted the film for possible showing at the Sundance Film Festival. Out of the handfull of documentaries (out of over 800 submitted) it accepted for showing.
It created a firestorm...and went on to win top prize: The Grand Jury Award.
National Geography has purchased the broadcast rights and will air it this fall. And the DVD will follow. Theatrical rights are still in negotiation, but it is being shown at film festivals in major cities across the country.
So if you are really interested in seeing the raw truth and the unimaginable bravery of our troops, without the spin, watch for “Restrepo” (Junger has also written a book about it, “WAR”, coming out in mid-May, available for pre-order on Amazon.)

a review:
Why is anyone surprised. Damon has spouted Anti-American crap for the past two years. He verges on being an anarchist.
He has just been emboldened by the election of Zero. Now he is on a one man mission to destroy the U.S.
Stop supporting these commie/fascist/socialist/Dum actors.
YOU pay their salaries.
One of my FAVORITE scenes in ANY movie, is the final scene with Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg in : “The Departed”.
Well that explains Roger Ebert's slobbering approval.
Of course it’s anti-American. Paul Greengrass hates Joseph Stalin because Stalin was too conservative. And don’t expect Matt Damon to have anything good to say about the U.S.
In short, I watch their drivel for the same reasons I “listened” to Soviet Red Army commo when I was in the Army - because I want to be aware of what the sneaky little Communist bastards are up to, and because I loathe Communists. i.e., I can't know what they're are all about unless I'm informed, and they can't infect me because I'm immune to their twisted ideology.
I generally watch even the most controversial leftist movies so I that if I must, I can at least make relatively informed commentary about it. My ten buck isn't going to make a difference.
That said, I watched it in the busiest theater in central Bucks County PA, where one can usually expect a a pretty full theater on opening night of almost any “big name" actor's movie (the “Bourne” movies were packed). This “megaplex” theater showed Green Zone in their largest auditorium, and at the 7:20 showing I doubt there were 80 people present.
From a technical perspective, it was a very well rendered production. There was great balance between sweeping scenes of Baghdad and gritty late-night tactical ops in the slums. I felt it was very well produced.
It also did a great job of inducing the essential “intercharacter tensions” (sorry, I don't know the correct term for it, so I made one up) between the antagonist/protagonist and the supporting characters that make a good story engaging.
But, in the real world (if such can even be said of cinema), all of the technical proficiency, great cinematography, and even some pretty decent acting (especially by the Iraqi “3rd character”) simply don't carry this flawed storyline.
It's just damned hard to get a theater full of Americans to believe that the actions of an American Army Officer (OK Warrant Officer) essentially getting a Blackhawk full of SF troopers and their Commander killed is something to applaud. No matter how bad the earlier tension building scenes make them look, they are still fellow Americans. BTW, they were not not “hunting” CWO Miller and his soldiers in order to execute them. They were hunting a particularly bloodthirsty Iraqi General, with a price on his head (the “10 of Clubs”) whom Miller was also trying to find for his own little crusade.
At any rate, Green Zone is unfortunately based on the same old tired leftist meme that America is always wrong, and the flawed premise that “there were no WMD in Iraq”, and tries to establish in the public’s mind (once again) that a bunch of craven Pentagon bureaucrats made the whole thing up just so they could invade Iraq. Gee, where have we heard that before?
If anyone thinks CWO Miller comes off as a hero for his actions (which result in the deaths of several US soldiers and friendly Iraqi nationals), their values are skewed to the extreme left. But that's the audience Damon’s shooting for anyway. Hell, they're probably telling him how “brave” he is right now. In their self-congratulatory little bubble world, he'll probably get an Oscar for Best Impersonation of an American “Patriot”.
Among the comments I heard at the end of the movie were” “what bullshit”, “good God!”, “That sucked” and my personal favorite “Well, I can't unwatch that shit”.
A bad story, even when well executed, is still just a bad story. Green Zone is nothing more than a gold-plated turd.
