All he did was make the reporter's career. Getting kicked out was the best story she could have gotten. He had just said “thank you” and went to the next question, she would still be unknown. She ought to buy Penn some Venezuelan bananas.

Can any FReepers tell me why his Haitian trip was controversial, e.g. motivation?

As the father is so is the son.
Would it surprise you to learn that one of those prominent Hollywood communist Jews who sided with Germany until the breaking of that Hitler-Stalin Pact was none other than Leo Penn, the late father of Sean Penn.

Now it all makes sense. I was wondering about his parents, he was raised in an angry house with a very warped view on life.......still does not excuse this spawn of evil known as Sean.....

Someone should ask him under what law reporters should be jailed when they refer to his Commie pal Hugo Chavez as a DICTATOR?

Geez I just said this on another Spicoli thread last night, there’s nothing worse than a wine drunk.

"You know, I think that you are investing in a culture that I am not interested in. And you should go your way," Penn said to the reporter
LOL - it takes an ego as monstrous as Godzilla to come up with an utterance like that.
It's fascinating in a train-wreck kind of way to see what Hollywood fame and attention create out of non-entities like Penn. Actors are usually under-educated, uninformed and not particularly knowledgeable about anything - their craft consists of playing characters written for them. The job doesn't require skill, brains or hard work - just instinct: how many other professions can be performed so successfully by small children? But fame and attention convince these people of limited intellect and limited experience that they are qualified to make judgments about the sayings and doings of their betters - and that's pretty much everyone who isn't an actor.
To: Comrade Brother Abu Bubba
Sean is just confused, he needs to be gently reminded of the blessings and freedoms this country provides.
With a lead pipe.

The only accurate representation of the mental acuity and faculties of this man is contained in a once-cool movie called, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."
Everything about this man - his humanitarianism, his 'intellectualism', his 'acting' ability, his intelligence in general, is a poor fabrication.
He is an utter waste of air.

Politicians must have oratorical skills of some sort, the ability to negotiate, the ability to get people to support them, the ability to compromise every principle they have, etc. Pro athletes who want to remain pro athletes must be able to analyze their positions and their opponents, understand game strategies, and have the self-discipline to remain superior athletes. Even hobos and street people require survival skills. Acting just requires the ability to give up one's own personality and convincingly take on another, under direction - as I said, even children can do it and often do it better than adult actors.

Penn’s son is was busted for drugs. Maybe he can give dad an overdose. It certainly would be a very good riddance of human garbage.
