Well, Democrats may be lacking votes but they're certainly not lacking in chutzpah:
Democratic Congressional leaders struck a tentative agreement on Thursday that breathes new life into President Obamas proposed overhaul of federal student loan programs.
The deal would bundle the bill into an expedited budget package along with the Democratic health care legislation, which would allow for both measures to be passed by the Senate on a simple majority vote. Without the deal, the student loan bill would have been unlikely to pass because it lacked the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster.
I can't imagine that this will be viewed as anything other than an arrogant move, and one that would diminish the chances of health care reform being passed even more.

You dont have to be a local constituent to call. Everyone knows this is a national issue: the NO votes will be blessed by people across the country, and the YES votes will face --- we can guarantee this --- personal shame and lasting political ruin.

Nothing beats nationalizing higher education
because then, any university that accepts students using a govt funded loan- has to meet govt demands for what and how it teaches and who it admits and hires
and under Rahmbo’s program- all the student loans will be govt loans.
Brilliant move to take over higher education
I imagine this could really hurt Christian colleges/universities. I hate Nobama.
This is what we have to look forwRd to from now until the new Congress is sworn in, now that Democrats know they’re all being thrown out. And it will only get worse after the election makes it official. Expect special sessions as Democrats take their last opportunity to push through 0bama’s radical leftist agenda.
Democrats are never more dangerous than when they have nothing left to lose.

my daughter will be starting college next fall at a private Catholic college. FUBO.

How do you think that is? {I have my own suspicions, but I want to hear yours.}
Totally control the youth and their education and you totally control the future of this country. You would think people would know that.
My daughter graduated from a Christian university last May and is now working on her masters. I hate Nobama.
Forcing them to hire homosexuals comes to mind. I am sure there are many more, from textbooks to affirmative action.
Your turn.
Just another step in becoming communists America. We are getting there fast.
Thanks! Great site! I’ll spread the word!
The Dept. of Education has already purchased some of the parent loans. I guess they figure the parents are more likely to pay them back. They have not changed the terms of the loans. See the pink box at this link:

Slightly similar; but they could claim that by accepting federal dollars that the school is ‘federally funded’ and that they must implement such “federal building” policies. {That by that argument the acceptance of any federally minted money would make someone a ‘federal employee’ would be irrelevant.}
I’m thinking they could use it to reinforce the “gun free zone” idea; basically subtly indoctrinating students to think that any non-governmental-agent (police-officer) who is armed is armed illegally. [i.e. a “push back” against ‘open carry’ assertions by some citizens.]

Yeah. I sent it out in an email too. Also, if we fill up their email boxes, they print actual letters.
And they will do everything they can to make it difficult for the next Congress to undo their actions.
What a great choice! You will not worry as much about her being indoctrinated by some left-wing nut. If my daughter were of college age, I too would urge her to consider such a school. The fact that we are Jewish would not bother me at all: my daughter would be in a moral environment.
Good luck to your daughter and congratulations to you --- it's a milestone in raising her, isn't it? You must be really proud of her.
They’ve owned pre-college education for decades. Now all they need is to completely take over the colleges. They have most of them anyway but this will make it complete.
The Federal Government wants to help Americans with their health care. Their solution is to pay doctors, nurses and hospitals less money.
The Federal Government wants to help Americans with their education. Their solution is to pay professors, administrators and colleges more money.
Guess who donates more money to Democrats?
