If they take on immigration reform, it’s sure to erupt into a very nasty debate - they can attack the tea party people, conservatives, etc., as rascists, crazy right-wingers, etc., while motivating their own base - including their large latino base, which also happens to be a player in many of the key western states that are on the fence for Novemember.
