Ahh...

Missed that... My bad. :-)
This might be a dumb question, but how do they differentiate an "aftershock" from an "earthquake?" At what point would it be considered a separate earthquake from the first, rather than an aftershock?
>> What has Chile done to offend God? <<
They’ve just elected a Harvard Ph.D. as their President. Nuff said?
Must be. Is he a commie, muslim liberal?
Sometimes, tectonic plate movement is just tectonic plate movement.
Could have been their evil cuecas and Chilean rodeos.
I was only joking with my above post. I doubt there is any correlation with this inauguration and recent seismic events. :)
Bttt. Just a few minutes ago...
Not over yeat - Conception(sp?) has moved 10 feet due to the recent earthquake - that’s a LOT of displacement.
Worse, the quake was generated from a partial fault movement, the other half has yet to move...
Alaska got hit with a 7.9 here a few years back, luckly in a mostly uninhabited area. There, only about half of the fault unzipped - we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Prayers for the folks in Chile, they could use the help, I’m sure.
Karl Rove is playing with that HAARP machine again. Must be true, Jesse Ventura said so.......
All together there were three quakes that should generate what are called S/waves. That webicorder is very sensitive so it should pick up the motion nicely.
I think Chile wants to move away......
Ah...the Rove/Cheney Earthquake Machine is operating as planned!
Yes, I just posted what I did for the benefit of those freepers that believe one of the ways God punishes is by natural disasters.

Looking at that Webicorder... the whole land mass IS STILL MOVING. See that long wave form on the red line? Yea, thats movement, the plate was moving and in a relatively free manner. Thats actually good news if correct, it will let the pressure out with out the huge shock of sudden movement.
This one rung the earth like a bell again.
For those wondering, I’m downtown Santiago on the second floor, and we didn’t even leave the building (supposed to be safer?). We’re in a 10+ story building, next to a 15+ story building. People in the building next to us all came outside, but have now gone back to work. Same for our office. Thank God for stricktly enforced quality building codes!
