I think we really just want Hollywood to move on from the war, much like so much of the American populace has. This is, sadly, the war America got bored with, and the populace doesn’t want to hear about it, pro- or anti-.

As I said part of the problem was there was no advertising for it. And you need a certain threshold of viewers before word of mouth works. You do have a point, THL was poorly advertised and seemed to disappear from the theaters before many people learned about it. A concerted effort on the part of Hollywood to sabotage the film? I don't know. Perhaps. At $11 mil, it was fairly low-budget for an action film and arrived to DVD pretty quickly, where word of mouth helped make it a popular rental.

the smaller studios churned out “adults only” morality films which permitted them to show a lot of sinning (and nakedness) as long as the guilty got it in the end. "Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison? "

It's not censorship, but it's a bad idea.
Government subsidy to shows that would otherwise not stay in business?

“...Interesting youd post a picture of a guy married seven times and a junky....”
You are a very sick person. Mickey Rooney has been married to his last wife for over 30 years. His lifestyle is clean enough for him to pass 90 years of age with the strength to keep WORKING.
I feel sorry for you if you can dismiss his entire life of entertainment and his Christian conversion so flippantly.
