Stupak: Health bill abortion fight can be resolved
Associated Press

TAWAS CITY, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak says prospects are good for resolving a dispute over abortion that's led some House Democrats to threaten to withhold support of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
Stupak said Monday he expects to resume talks with House leaders this week about wording that wouldn't impose new limits on abortion rights but also wouldn't allow federal funding of the procedure.
Stupak's emerged as spokesman for about a dozen House Democrats who say the Senate's version of health legislation would authorize federal abortion subsidies. They insist on restoring stiffer restrictions from the House measure.
Stupak tells The Associated Press he's more optimistic than last week. He'd said then that nothing had changed and he didn't think House leaders had the votes to pass the bill.

If the House passed the Senate bill, it would go to the President. Why would there be any need for a “reconciliation” rule that only applies to bills passed identically by both houses of Congress? It doesn’t make any sense. Reconciliation is for when one house passes a budget bill that’s slightly different from the version passed by the other house.
Why not?
Stupak caves.
Exactly.
They’re liars from the beginning.
Same beast, different name.
Wow...this thing’s really going to pass, isn’t it?
For a bill to become law, the exact same text needs to be passed by two houses of Congress.
Therefore, if the House passes an amended version of the Senate bill, the Senate would have to agree to that amendment exactly in order for the bill to become law.
I honestly don’t think Stupak or any of these Dems making noise has any intention of fighting it. It’s all for show. Breaks my heart that we don’t have enough honest people in the House to stop this coup.
He'll vote for "health care" and claim that whatever bullsh#t language that Pelosi/Rahm and Reid put in to the bill can give him cover for his supposed "pro-life" stance.
A democrat is a rat. They lie, it's in their nature to be deceiving, feces eating, bottom dwellers. It's what they do, it's what they are.
It's all a sham.
Once this is voted in, the powers that be will make it impossible for it to be repealed, because they will force businesses to either pay a 16-20% tax on the health care they provide or an 8% fee for government insurance. They will dump their coverage and any effort to make them pick up the "cost" will be seen as a "tax increase" in the future.
The democrats need to be exposed for the lying POS that they are as well as any Republican that wants to "fix" the supposed "health care crisis". It's a crisis made by liberals so that they'd have something to "solve".
If a neutron bomb went off over the capitol while both houses were in session, I'd call it even. Leave the nice monuments , libraries and museums... get rid of the rest of the garbage.
Why do you have to act like a prick..? The point is the bill can’t be amended. It must be passed by the House ‘as is’ and so Pelosi et all are making promises to recalcitrant dems that what they want will be included AFTER Zero signs it into law but at that point there’s no longer any leverage so very few are believing what they’re selling. Now, I’ve been more than generous to you so don’t start in on your nastiness again. It’s bad enough dealing with the fing democrats. Thank you and have a nice evening. I mean it.
Why can’t the bill be amended?
One word...............Pelosi.
Well, that's a good question and to be honest I'm relying on Rush and Levin and lots of reading where they say it can't be amended. Part of it is that the original house bill (were the whole thing started) was sent up to the Senate where Reid used it as a model to write his own bill but he kept the House bill number so now that it's back in the House (with the same bill number) it can't be amended without I think triggering the Repubs option to do tons of amendments, stalling etc. which is why they're calling for a simple up or down vote.
They're not though. They're going to be duped into passing the Senate bill as is and it'll be on Zero's desk within seconds.
There is no reconciliation whatsoever. It's a smoke screen.
If that happens, Stupak won’t be acting consistent with his rhetoric.
If the House amends the Senate bill, then it would have to get voted upon by the Senate again, and Reid would need to get 60 votes for another cloture vote. Democrats know that they won’t be able to get 60 Senate votes again (for starters, Scott Brown replaced Democrat Paul Kirk), so their only hope is to get a majority in the House to vote for the Senate bill.
RAT.
In the end, no principle matters. Stupak knows full well a vote for the bill in the House means reconciliation never needs to happen - but he’s looking for a hole to hide in, not truth or principle!
RAT.
I am for all out total overthrow of the government if this happens. I am a target of the government at this time. Commie infiltration has happened in the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Time to turn the tables and take America back by whatever means are necessary. The military can step in....will they turn their guns on Americans? Will the generals help Obama put down the masses?
No way at all I can be the only person who feels like this....no way possible.
Yes, this is only a feeling right now.......you dont just hand over your freedoms without blood being spilled.
Thanx for the contact info in Post #27.
I have called, and will also try to visit my Dem reps office personally, because a visit is worth way more than a call. Calls are good, too, though. One call counts as 40 constituents.
They’re going to pass it, no matter what. It’s like they’ve almost intentionally prolonged this krap to torture Americans with it just because they can.
But I also think they’ve underestimated the will of the people...I expect state houses all over the country are going to step up to the plate and nullify this krap...
