Yes, and when President Bush didn't do that the day after Hurricane Katrina, it just proved that he hated black people. BTW, I am a "survivor" of Katrina, but I don't live in New Oreans and I'm not black. I guess Biloxi, Gulfport and the rest of the Mississippi Coast, being a mostly white enclave, didn't fit in with the meme the media was going for, even though the hurricane actually hit us.
You are absolutely right on both counts.
A common discussion around here right after Katrina was the ceaseless hammering President Bush got, and how our "friends" on the Left seemed to think the President was some bizarre mixture of Superman and episodes of "The West Wing." That he just had to fly over, do the right thing ( whatever the Hell that was ) and all things would be well again.
It had slipped my attention that you had been through Katrina- sorry to hear that. The Atlantic Ocean is visible from our rooftop here, and we really don't enjoy each hurricane season.
A number of Freepers in areas hit by Katrina noted at the time how little attention was paid to the devastation of their communities, and how they got back on their feet on their own.
