We're mired in Afghanistan because successive administrations in Washington have conflated the hayseed Taliban with al Qaeda's cosmopolitans.

Completely wrong.

You're mired because no administration - not the Busch admin, not the current one, not the Clinton administration, nor for that matter any other administration globally - can admit to what islam is.

Islam is a system of genocide that has been conducting the same war against all that is not islam for more than a milennium. It cannot be reasoned with, won over, or co-opted. It can only be eradicated, or it will eradicate humanity.

The author makes precisely this point. He also distinguishes between the indigenous Taliban and the internationalist Al Queda. The point is well made and has been for years. Terrorists are waging a religious war. We are waging an economic war. We will not win this war until it becomes a war between Mohammad and Christ. And since we will never wage a Christian war we will never win this war.
