The author makes precisely this point. He also distinguishes between the indigenous Taliban and the internationalist Al Queda. The point is well made and has been for years. Terrorists are waging a religious war. We are waging an economic war. We will not win this war until it becomes a war between Mohammad and Christ. And since we will never wage a Christian war we will never win this war.
Sigh. Wrong again.
There is nothing religious about islam. Islam is a political system for allowing its adherents to kill. You will not get a muslim to give you any recognizable description of allah, ever. The closest you may come is a sort of deified hate.
In the final analysis, the war of islam is a war between nonhuman and human. Stark, but there it is.
Ann Coulter had the solution even before we went into Afghanistan but right after 9/11. She said, "We should invade their country, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."
Ralph Peters has a similar observation:
On the contrary, over two millennia of religious revolts tells us that fanatic uprisings can only be subdued by killing the true believers.
