BOISE -- A former Boise Police Officer faces five counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16.
The former Boise Police Officer retired six days ago, on February 28.
Friday afternoon, Stephen Young, 58, of Eagle, was arrested following an interview with Ada County Sheriff's Detectives.
The five felony charges represent five different victims over the last five years.
Investigators said the victims were all infants at the time Young had alleged sexual contact with them.
They also said Young knows the victims, but they did not live in his home.
Detectives also said the crimes happened at several different homes in Ada County.
Up until his retirement earlier this week, Young worked for the Boise Police Department for over 30 years. His most recent assignment was as a patrol officer for five years.
Before that he served as a School Resource Officer for 10 years. We're told one of those schools was Boise High.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing and both the Boise Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff's Office are involved.
Based on the information available, BPD said there is no reason to believe that any of these crimes occurred while Young was on duty or assignment with the department.
As this investigation continues, Andrea Dearden with the Ada County Sheriff's Office said additional charges are possible as they work to determine if there are any additional victims.
Young is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at 1:30 in Ada County.
More information will be available then.
His stay in prison should be just a day at the beach.
Words that should never be in the same sentence: sexual contact infant.
If he had done that to my daughter, I’d be the one facing prison.
I think if he’s convicted he should be hanged immediately after...from a tree and in public.
Exactly. Me too.
He should be hanged and after a few weeks in prison, believe me, he’ll wish he had been hanged.
I had a step father that was into infants and toddlers. His butt is in prison now also. It seems that the law doesn’t like it when you adopt a child from China so that you can abuse them. Who would have thunk it.
Let’s give him the benefit of doubt.
1. If someone else was in the room at the time, how come they didn’t do anything to stop him right away?
2. Infants don’t remember several years later what happened to them and be able to identify the offender.
So what evidence do they have against him?
Anyone who would do what he is being accused of, if proven and convicted, should never see the light of day, but I find it curious that these accusations, 5 of them! are being revealed now.
There has to be many more victims of this sick perverted bastard. There’s no way he just started raping babies five years ago. He should be hung from a tree and killed slowly so he suffers as much as possible.
Not if I was on the jury...
Absolutely there are more victims. And I agree that he should be hanged- and that’s the most compassionate thing that could happen to him considering what’s in his future.
It says that he was arrested following an interview with Ada County Sheriff's Detectives. Typically that happens once there is a confession or an admission which rises to the level of probable cause...
too quick. But then, I really do believe God will avenge them. And He can do so much more than us when it comes to eternal torture.
Not if I were on the jury.
Depends on what you're hanging him from ;)
LOL!! You’ve got that right!
I was just talking to an older neighbor lady. She said when she was a child someone in a car tried to grab her but the other kids yanked her back.
She said her dad and the other dads grabbed their guns and went looking for the car/guy (small town back then). She never heard anymore about it. One can only hope.
Unfortunately he will be put in protective custody the minute he sets foot inside a prison. There’s a slight chance someone in there might go after him but it usually doesn’t happen. Child molesters shouldn’t be protected from the general population. The treatment they will receive should be considered part of the punishment for such a heinous crime.
Words fail me. This from a cop? Here in New Jersey, not far from where I live a tech working at a local animal shelter was arrested after torturing and killing two cats who were recovering from surgery. That was a couple of days ago and the story still haunts me as my wife and I have two cats and FR is by all accounts a cat-friendly place. And now this story. Honest to Good God I don’t know what goes through the minds of some people. But as someone once said’’ Some people deserve killin’’’.
