It won’t show up that way unless you have one of the older and clumsier virii. Isn’t Windows/IE fun? :P
Are you using IE6? If so, that may be part of your problem.
See post 58. After cleaning up your system, you can prevent this from happening again by:
0. Buying a Mac (probably not going to happen, but this $150/hr IT consultant uses Macs at home because he DOESN’T want to be cleaning virii off his own machines - free advice here, but since you likely won’t do it...)
1. Dump IE and install Firefox. Make it your default browser.
2. Install Adblock Plus (a free Firefox add-in).
3. Keep Firefox and your security software up to date.
4. Turn off auto-preview in Outlook/Outlook Express/Windows Mail and delete any email that seems suspicious.
5. (If you haven’t already) Obtain and install an effective antivirus solution that does link scanning. This does not mean Norton or McAfee, those two are useless.
Hey DiNozzo - why is the last half of the URL in the address bar of IE screenshot blacked out - IE NEVER does that on it’s own. Did you modify the screenshot before posting?
Also, notice that the page is supposed to be secure indicated by “https” (the s means the page is encrypted).
However, IE shows that it is NOT secure (IE would show you a lock icon in the status bar at the bottom of the page).
Time to use an updated anti-virus program and scrub your system.
McGee: Just sayin’ ...
