The story smacks of racism that is typical of the liberals. Actually, there is another version of the same story at http://www.economist.com/opinion/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15606229 which has this paragraph:
“For those who oppose abortion, this is mass murder. For those such as this newspaper, who think abortion should be “safe, legal and rare” (to use Bill Clinton’s phrase), a lot depends on the circumstances, but the cumulative consequence for societies of such individual actions is catastrophic. “
You don’t have to be a genius to see the inevitable consequences. Either an increase in prostitution (State-run most likely) or an increase in male homosexuality. Female babies might come to be valued, if only for their services as prostitutes.
This is not news - this has been standard practice in China for 20 years. That’s why they keep kidnapping foreign women to “mate” with their preferred kin. North Korea does the same thing.
So, why are we afraid of a country that’s going to be extinct in a generation?
