Cities, counties and states that haven't been very kind to illegal immigrants over the years are suddenly dusting off their welcome mats. With the 2010 census about to get under way, those undocumented residents will be worth a lot of money for the next few weeks.

Jurisdictions across the country are reaching out to illegal immigrant communities, some of which are reluctant to participate, in an effort to convince them that filling out the census form is safe and that the information they provide won't be used against them. Counting every last resident is vital for these districts, because the census numbers will be used to determine funding as well as legislative districts. The more people an area has, the more money it is eligible for, and the more representation it can get in Congress -- which usually means even more money.

...mark my words, after the census is done, urban Dems will demand that an 'estimated' head count be entered for their districts...that way they can keep the money flowing....fact is, nobody really knows how many people are staying down in the projects or are living on the streets or are here illegally down in the barrios or are sewing in Chinatown sweatshops...some segments of the population just can't be counted.

“...undocumented residents will be worth a lot of money ...”

Those same illegal aliens are costing the states much more than they will ever gain, IMO

They're illegal aliens, not undocumented residents

They don't count for anything except being part of a crime tsunami

Just to top it off, obama has just signed a bill which will make visa entry easier and invite more anchor babies and visa overstaying illegal aliens. Yep...they slipped this one by us! And it won’t be the only one.

U.S. travel promotion bill signed into law
By Marnie Hunter, CNN
March 4, 2010 1:37 p.m. EST

President Obama signed legislation into law Thursday to create the United States’ first national travel promotion program.

“By signing the Travel Promotion Act, President Obama has acted to support the power of travel to serve as an economic stimulant, job generator and diplomatic tool,” said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association.

The act will create a nonprofit Corporation for Travel Promotion that will promote the United States as a travel destination and explain travel and security policies to international visitors.

The bill received final passage in the Senate last week.

A $10 fee charged to visitors from countries included in the Visa Waiver Program will partially fund the public-private organization. These visitors will pay the fee every two years when they register online using the Department of Homeland Security’s Electronic System for Travel Authorization.

The rest of the funding will come through a matching program of up to $100 million in private sector contributions. If the corporation is able to raise the projected $200 million annually, the organization would be the largest national tourism communications program in the world, Dow said.

The Department of Commerce will soon begin to fill the 11 positions on the corporation’s board with representatives from all corners of the travel industry. That process is expected to take two to six months, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security will be tasked with establishing the mechanism for collecting the $10 fee from visitors who do not have to pay for visas — a process that could take five to 12 months, the association said.

This bill is going to be a disaster and will only help ACORN, SEIU, foreigners who shouldn’t be here and Harry Reid.

When I am welcome in their countries without fear of deportation, then illegals can come back. Why should illegals influence ‘representation in Congress’ at all?

Here in NJ Illegal aliens cost the tax payers $2.1+ billion in only three areas: education, medical care, and incarceration. These costs do not include ESL classes, free meals at school, food stamps, housing subsidies, etc.

Don’t forget all illegals co not work in sweat shops or mow lawns. Some illegals are visa overstays who compete with and suppress salaries of people in IT, medicine, teaching, etc.
It is disgustingly easy to do.

Another indication of how corrupt our political structure has become - they are all addicted to the Federal teat. Another Congressional seat, more money for pet projects, ad nauseum. Yeah, Federal money (read ours) is the lure, but if any of these people had integrity, they wouldn't be pulling this suicidal crap. I am so goddam disgusted with the whole bunch.

So, do they have a box on the census for “Illegal”? If not, then they shouldn’t be counted.
