Welcome to Free Republic.
And good luck on your candidacy.
You need to get better informed on the immigration issue. What do you intend to do with the 12 to 20 million lawbreakers already here? Do you support the current level of LEGAL IMMIGRATION, I.E., 1.2 million a year? How do you feel about birthright citizenship?
Would you be willing to sign the pledge below?
I pledge to oppose amnesty or any other special path to citizenship for the millions of foreign nationals unlawfully present in the United States. As a member of Congress, I will support the full implementation of enforcement measures that, over time, will lead to the attrition of our illegal immigrant population. I also pledge to make security of our borders a top priority.
Good luck to you, but if you’re going to run you should familiarize yourself w/ a little history. You write:
“Tired of waiting for my Party to create a new Contract with America for today’s issues, I finally wrote it myself — just as Newt Gingrich did when he first ran for Congress.”
Newt had been in office a number of years before the first Contract was written. And he didn’t actually write it, he was responsible for using it, though, and is usually credited with leading the effort to promote it.
Joseph, how about an immigration moratorium rather than a streamlining? We’re saturated, and moreover, the Statue of Liberty is very tired of being pimped in the service of cheap labor proponents, globalists, Communists and multiculturalists.
Your national security, win the war goal is too vague. I’d recommend locking down the borders. Provide jobs to Americans willing to patrol and keep the borders secure.
Where do I sign?
I’m OK with the helping legal immigrants, but you did not say what you propose to do with the millions of illegals already here?
They should be deported to the last man woman and child. Raise the stakes on re-entry to prison time.
There should be an 80% tax on all remittances outside the US by non-citizens.
Wow! Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve been incredibly busy as you can imagine. Feel free to email me directly at joe@tatner.com or visit www.tatner.com and click on the email button for a faster response!
YES, I would sign the pledge, consider it so signed.
YES, I would deport those who are here illegally.
YES, we should finish the border fence and use the border as a training ground for Recon Teams from all the military forces (we should not by definition “militarize” the border, however, the federal government has to DO ITS JOB).
YES, I support the Arizona law because I actually READ it (I know, that’s something people in Congress aren’t supposed to do...actualy read a bill...but then, I refuse to ever become a politician, even if elected).
YES, I actually have written legislation as part of the Contract with America 2010 and it states only children born to LEGAL citizens and permanent residents receive a birth certificate and ONLY a birth certificate is valid for schools, welfare, non-emergency healthcare, etc. (all others receive a certificate of live birth only).
How about “English Only” ballots? No more ballots in 57 different languages.
