Liberalizing church: Presbyterian Church USA Releasing Report Denouncing Isreal as 'Racist Nation'
Washington Times ^ | 3/4/10

The Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUSA) is about to release a report which denounces Israel as a 'racist' nation which has absolutely no historical, covenantal, or theological right to the Holy Land.

The report calls for the United States to withhold financial and military aid to Israel and for boycotts and sanctions against Israel.

The report also endorses a Palestinian 'right of return' and 'apologizes to Palestinians for even conceding that Israel has a right to exist.'

According to the press release, it also states that Israels history begins only with the Holocaust and that Israel is 'a nation mistakenly created by Western powers at the expense of the Palestinian people to solve the "Jewish problem"

"In 2004, this Church became the first mainline Protestant denomination in America to 'approve a policy of divestment from Israel.'

This was rescinded, but in 2008 the Church 'created a committee dominated by seven activists holding strong anti-Israel beliefs.

The lone member sympathetic to Israel, quit in protest when he saw their radical agenda.'

uhoh, Washington times not WaPo. They are usually a bit more fact oriented. But still, it doesn’t jive with local policy.

I was also a member of the Presbyterian Church USA until I confronted my pastor with the following info, and he admitted it was true:
*****

“Presbyterians pay for the mandatory medical benefits plan designed and administered by the Board of Pensions of the PC(USA) with their tithes and offerings.

Most Presbyterians do not know that the contributions they make to the mission of the Church are used to provide abortion coverage for Presbyterian pastors and their dependents.

The BOP will not volunteer the information, but if you inquire, they will tell you that they have no exclusions on the abortion coverage.

They reimburse for any abortion for which a proper claim form is submitted.”

We were not Presbyterian when we started attending this church, but fell in love with it.

The Leftist Leadership in the PCUSA did not get pummeled enough in 2004 when they voted to divest holdings in those corporationgs doing business with Israel.

In 2006 the PCUSA leadership was forced to rescind their divestment policy.

However, Marxists never sleep and now the PCUSA leftists awaken with a new way of demonizing Israel.

The PCUSA leadership is doing a great job of driving their organization into non-existence. The PCUSA has been losing members for the past 50 years. These wacky mid-east policies will only lead more members to leave the denomination.

The PCUSA leadership thinks they are important, but the reality is that no one listens to them anymore.

I have attended Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Assemblies of God and Presbyterian. I look for one that preaches Jesus. At this point in time, I am “churchless”. The last one had serious issues that the elders refuse to confront. I am part of a group that meets once a month in peoples homes. I enjoy those “services”.

It was a big decision for us to leave because of all the memories. We had been married there; our daughter was married there; my father was buried from there. In the end, we had no choice but to leave.

Interested folks might want to sign the letter to PCUSA on the Simon Wiesenthal website.

This was my first experience with a church that taught directly from the Bible. It was an eye opening experience.

It's a wonderful experience.

At our monthly meetings, everyone brings their Bibles. We read different versions of the same Scripture and discuss it. That's the sermon. And we can ask questions. He asks for input. Then we all sit down and eat. And still discuss the message. I love it.

Sounds like the small groups our church pushes. Kind of a band of brothers (and sisters) to uplift and share with.

This is but one of many reasons the congregation of my church LEFT PCUSA. Cost us some to get out of old contracts and keep church records and property but worth it. I’ve been in that church over 15 years, deacon and chair of bd of deacons for 7 and could never see what good PCUSA was to us. PCUSA was like seagulls - reps would drop in, dump on us, and leave.

Old Testament promises are fulfilled in Christ. Galatians says Jesus is the "seed" that God referred to when He made the promise to Abraham.

That being said, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle-East and the US and the UN both backed the formation of Israel post WWII so that needs to be supported.
