The Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUSA) is about to release a report which denounces Israel as a 'racist' nation which has absolutely no historical, covenantal, or theological right to the Holy Land.
The report calls for the United States to withhold financial and military aid to Israel and for boycotts and sanctions against Israel.
The report also endorses a Palestinian 'right of return' and 'apologizes to Palestinians for even conceding that Israel has a right to exist.'
According to the press release, it also states that Israels history begins only with the Holocaust and that Israel is 'a nation mistakenly created by Western powers at the expense of the Palestinian people to solve the "Jewish problem"
"In 2004, this Church became the first mainline Protestant denomination in America to 'approve a policy of divestment from Israel.'
This was rescinded, but in 2008 the Church 'created a committee dominated by seven activists holding strong anti-Israel beliefs.
The lone member sympathetic to Israel, quit in protest when he saw their radical agenda.'

I grew up in this denomination, but I left. The hierarchy agrees with democrats on most things.
Which one? We had been attending a conservative PCUSA church which was out-of-step with the prevailing liberal mores at PCUSA itself. But we moved to another town.
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.
Curse you, libs.
Ping
It's actually not petty.
“Presbyterian Church USA Releasing Report Denouncing Isreal as ‘Racist Nation”
Ummmm....ok.
(note to self, stay the hell out of Presbyterian churches)
...I just sent the following e-mail to the Stated Clerk at PCUSA in Louisville saying:
ARE YOU CRAZY?...our family has been Presbyterian since 1836...not any more...we’ll take our faith and money elsewhere.
Stonewalls...Deacon/husband of an Elder/son of Elders/Grandson of Clerks of Session
REALLY? Has no one at the PCUSA read The Bible?
We became members of the Wesleyan Denomination. They are pro-life and conservative. The church we go to is thriving, full of families and children.
Good for you!
Obvioulsy this bunch of Protestants doesn't believe in "sola scriptura" any more. I seem to recall a promise God made to Abraham.......
Evidently not...

OPRAH'S NEW SPIRITUALITY, THE EMERGENT CHURCH AND THE SEDUCTION OF CHRISTIANITY
We were good friends since 1964. We didn’t talk politics. She was my maid-of-honor. This rift began when the Presbyterians began this divestment push somewhere in the last ten years.
This is about PCUSA. There is also EPC which is conservative.
When I left the PCUSA, the pastor tried to convince me why gay marriage is a good thing!
Ours was conservative too Martin - but since we moved it has changed also. Old friends who are still members have been telling us how much the new minister has changed the atomosphere.
You got it, it’s all about Oprahization. Kymbaya all paths are right and valid we are the world “Christianity”...
I’m so glad I belong to a PCA Church.
