President Obama has nominated Scott M. Matheson Jr. to the 10th circuit court of appeals; and in a completely unrelated event, Mathesons brother, Utah congressman Jim Matheson was among a group of 10 democrats who met at the White House to discuss their votes on healthcare with the President. Jim Matheson had previously voted against the House healthcare bill, now Obama wants to talk it over.
Of course the allegations of bribery and buying votes have already surfaced and one can only gather that the nomination of Scott M. Matheson Jr. to the US circuit court has a secondary motive behind it. Lets get the question out of the way. Did Obama nominate Scott Matheson to the US circuit court so his brother Jim will vote yes on Obamacare? There, I said it.
As the Weekly Standard points out, Congressman Jim Matheson voted twice against Obamacare; once in committee and again during the full house vote. Hes now considered one of the 10 undecideds who could make or break Obamas healthcare legacy.
The timing of Obamas nomination of Scott M. Matheson Jr. is nothing short of suspicious. This nomination appears to be dubious at best, downright unethical at worst. Sure theres no law against Obama nominating whomever he wants to the courts. He can nominate every democratic congressmans brother or sister or father-in-law to any federal job he wants; it just doesnt look good.
So who is Scott M. Matheson Jr.? He teaches at the College of Law at the University of Utah, he once taught at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, he was also a US Attorney for the district of Utah; he attended Stanford, Yale and Oxford. Hes no doubt qualified to serve as a federal appeals judge. But thats not really the point is it? ...
This White House has proven time and time again that they will stoop to just about any level to get what they want. Obamas nomination of Scott M. Matheson Jr. to the 10th Circuit court of appeals raises more questions than it gives answers. Heres just a friendly prediction, Rep. Jim Matheson will miraculously see the error of his ways and cast a vote in the affirmative for Obamacare. Any takers?
“When the press is in your pocket you can do as you wish.”
You got that right. That is a real threat to our freedom too, while the other side rails on about how Tea Party people are the dangerous ones.
Michael Savage refers to the “government-media” alliance as being a dangerous thing and he is right.
Morning La Lydia.
You think if a pubbie were pres and tried this kind of b.s. there wouldn’t be dems screaming from the woof tops for his ouster?
Only way out I see, IF they pass (cram this down) this healthcare bill, is for our Governors and state legislators to step up and say HELL NO. Where are they? All I hear is crickets. I haven’t heard a peep out of Bob Riley.
You are so right. I think that they are going for the house vote while distracting us with reconcilliation. I guess they didn’t think anyone would notice Jim Matheson of Utah at the Whitehouse at the same exact time his brother was given a judgeship by no other than Obama. Again, how stupid does he think we are?
I never cared much for Barack Hussein Obama, but now I’m starting to detest him.
Ya think?
Before you move, you might want to take a swing past Matheson’s congressional office.
As smarmy as this whole thing looks, it might only resonate in non-LDS households like mine...Catholic.
It resonates plenty in mine, and I didn’t know either one of them was LDS until you mentioned it. See post 11. In addition, I do know Mr dingy harry is LDS, and that is about as offensive to me as anything, especially when that lying POS stands before the nation and attempts to tell me up is down, black is white, and poo tastes better than a big mac. I’m LDS.
Now on to another issue. You have an Ohio flag on your FR home page, but I discover today, apparently you are living in Southern UT. What’s up with that?
Ok, I guess it is none of my business.
PS, I should have remembered where you were from the weekly gardening thread.
Nothing will stop the communists takeover of America. Not 2010, not 2012 because the damage will continue for many years with no way to reverse it due to the weakness of millions of Americans that have lost their way and are slaves of the Federal Government one way or another. Impossible to take away the free "food" from their table.
UT strikes out: Matheson, Hatch, Bennett!
The truth the uninformed American people dispute; so many would be a willing slave to communism even as they deplore the chattel slavery of the Old South.
JUST NOW...”starting to detest him.”...YOU SAY. MOST OF US ARE WAYYYYYY AHEAD OF YOU MY FRIEND!
Kate,
I don’t hate Mormons, not at all. They are salt of the earth folks. My posting history reveals that. But the Evil One is taking advantage of things by doing this. He KNOWS that LDS people are loyal, and stick together...more than others. When this news was announced, Senator Hatch was jumping up and down with joy, check it out.
I’m not blaming LDS people, I’m noting how the Evil One is making them cynical and conflicted.
If Matheson goes along with this, someone will have to scrape this FReeper off the ceiling. Seriously.
I keep wishing he gets a dose of food poisoning at one of these three times a week White House parties.
meh
no problem at all for asking!
Ohio is “home” for me. Longsufferingtribebrownscavsfan. LOL I followed a sibling to St. George...for better weather and a better job.
I miss a million things about Ohio...except the weather and the economy. So I kept my Ohio flag up on my profile as a show of where my heart is. I go back every year for at least a month. Sometimes, I get homesick.
Thanks for asking, it gave me a chance to explain. :)
the Dems seem perpetually stuck in 1972....they think they can cut sleazy deals like this, and so long as Walter Cronkite does not mention it at 6:30 the public will never be the wiser. How stupid!
Pretty much. What happened?
You can give up and submit if you want to, but I refuse to do so.
It is not suspicious, it is confirmation of the bribery and corruption of this administration. Surely there is some sort of retribution for this behavior.
