South Africa black-owned farms 'failing' (90%

Some 90% of farms redistributed to South Africa's black population from white farmers are not productive, the government has said. Land reform minister Gugile Nkwinti warned the land might be repossessed if the farms continued to fail. Almost 60,000 sq km (23,000 sq miles) have been redistributed under policies aimed at benefiting black people who were left impoverished by apartheid. The land was bought from white farmers who sold up voluntarily. The BBC's Pumza Fihlani in Johannesburg says some black farmers are likely to argue that they have been struggling to get the resources and skills to develop their land. And repossessing the land would provide a whole new problem for the government, our correspondent says, as any move to return the land to its former white owners is bound to be controversial.

It was rather amazing that this article contained no hint of why the farms are failing, just the usual throwaway line about not getting resources, etc.

You are correct, that is what I am hoping for in 2010 and 2012....

Just like saying all those store owners bought protection insurance “voluntarily” from the mobs decades ago.

What really stinks about this is that I smell another racist bailout in the works, from the Obamite Tribe.

Isn’t it the same reason schools in Los Angeles and other big cities are failing? Lack of resources? Funny, the achieving schools need much less money than the over-unionized ones who preach Marxist, dependent-on-government theory....but I digress.

Foregone conclusion that they would fail.

"The government moved people, at random, to the island in their “transmigration” program and gave them plots of land and seeds, tools, resources, etc. To turn the jungle into productive farmland (and solidify their claim to the land)."

Government "solutions" always fail. The problem is there are just enough brain dead idiots to perpetuate this by being able to vote largess. It is a never ending problem.

I thought the same thing. What more of a resource do you need? They have the land, it was a productive farm. How hard could it be.

Yep. I think we’re beginning to learn that “lack of resources” is the new Lib excuse-mantra. It means “lack of a sufficiently large government welfare teat,” among other things.

Do you mean crops don’t grow all by themselves?

Being a wealthy farmer is harder than it looks.

A college professor I had once talked about the period when the blacks of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) were taking over control from the whites. He said flat out that once the blacks had control that Rhodesia would fail “because they didn’t create it”. Have had occasion to remember that prediction fairly often since.

Is there a place run by blacks that is not failing?

Many of the worst cities in US have Black mayors.

The schools who have bake-offs to raise money for school projects instead of bugging the school district are the best.

And their pets...dogs, cats, horses...whatever, were brutally tortured and slaughtered along with them.

I vividly remember reading the heart wrenching account of the massacres told by a black farm worker who *loved* his employer, not only as a person and friend but as a great benefactor because the farmer took *his own money* and built a large school to educate all the children in the area.

The man openly wept because he knew that this “now surprising” desolation and ruin lay ahead.

I’ve often wondered what happened to that poor man, his wife and their children.

They made their wasteland and now they -own- it.

Funny....the government thought black racism was fine until it affected their revenues. Where the rubber meets the road...

Kinda hard to “engage” a former owner whose throat you’ve just cut.

Government snatches defeat from the jaws of victory one more time! Some people (liberals, Democrats, socialists, communists) will never learn!
