Ouch, ouch, ouch! I would not want to be near any beach area, no way! The ground there... gulp, remember what happened in San Francisco?

I was in the SFV about 15 miles SSW of the epicenter.

USGS is probably the most current but the interactive maps using google earth are good. Zoom up on a location. Plus all the other info there. Just have a look see.

Just to put what looks like a lot of earthquake activity in perspective; over the last decade there has been an earthquake between 6.0 and 6.9 magnitude somewhere in the world every 2.5 days on average.

OK. How often has there been a 7.0 followed in 10 hours by an 8.8?

Gaia is angry. We must appease her by throwing Al Gore into a volcano. That is all.

LOL!

When I was there in 2007 there was a minor one. They are very good about designing building to withstand them.

My son was in Santiago when the 8.8 hit. He finally returned home today with a cut on the bridge of his nose and two black eyes. He was tossed out of his bed into the night stand and did a face plant. He’s fine, but certainly had an interesting experience.
