Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) will not seek re-election after only one term in office.
According to several House aides on both sides of the aisle the House ethics committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.
Massa and his office did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but his office has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon.
Massa, a 20-year Navy veteran, was elected to office last November. He serves on the Agriculture, Armed Services and Homeland Security committees.

As a freshman representing New Yorks most Republican House district, Massa was one of the most endangered Democrats in the delegation. Republicans had been aggressively targeting his seat and landed top recruit Tom Reed, the Republican mayor of Corning, to challenge him. Looks like this guy was a dead man walking anyway.

He should represent San Fran.
He would gain street cred with his actions there.

In 2008, he won 50.9% to 49.1%.
If that’s all he mustered in NY on Obama’s coattails, I’d say that seat is a Republican lock for 2010.
Although, the RNC is renowned for grasping defeat from the jaws of victory...

Must be pretty bad, for a Dem to resign over such a thing.
Normally, the ideological hordes would be out in force, stating what a good man Massa is, and that their own law somehow doesn’t apply to a progressive, because his heart was in the right place.

Yea, one thing you count on with the RNC; you can’t count on them!

Canandaigua, N.Y. U.S. Rep. Eric Massa, D-Corning said today he would vote against the Senate version of health-care overhaul legislation soon to reach the House. If it is a up or down vote on the Senate version, I will vote no, Massa told reporters during a conference call.
Massa was one of 215 House members who voted against sweeping health-care overhaul legislation when it passed the House with 220 votes in November. Massa has objected to the legislation for numerous reasons, including that it mandates nearly everyone buy insurance. During a visit to Finger Lakes Community College last month, he told students he thinks the legislation should be dealt with in parts, not as a whole package, a stand he reiterated Tuesday. Democratic Party is cleaning house in New York. If you're not all-the-way-with-Obama, they give you a dead girl or a live boy.

Seems far more serious than toe-tapping in public bathroom stall.

In a pretty conservative district, it should be noted.
He’s the one who went to the Kos Convention in Pittsburgh and proclaimed that his district was full of racist rednecks.

Ah. So, will a stronger Dem be appointed to finish the term?
