Over the past week, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has rolled out a list of blue-chip GOP political endorsements in his primary contest against challenger J.D. Hayworth and his campaign said more are on the way.
Its part of a concerted effort to remind primary voters of his stature, as well as an attempt to undercut Hayworths claim to be the conservative candidate in the Aug. 24 primary before his challenger can gain any traction.
To neutralize Hayworths claim on tea party movement voters, McCain has unveiled his backing from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and newly minted Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) both plan to stump on his behalf.
The former 2008 GOP presidential nominee has also picked up the official support of the entire state GOP congressional delegation a few of whom once served in the House with Hayworth and the state Chamber of Commerce. Prominent national Republicans are on the McCain team, too: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, once a bitter enemy.
Hes laying out the marker to demonstrate that hes got support across the board, said Sean Noble, an Arizona GOP consultant and former chief of staff to Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.). The establishment in Arizona is very conservative. Youve got guys who are way more conservative than either Hayworth or McCain, and they are siding with McCain.
The steady and consistent clip of the endorsements is by design, said McCain spokesman Brian Rogers.
We have a plan to roll out over the next two or three weeks even more, Rogers said. John McCain has deep support because of the hard work hes doing to fight for Arizona, and thats reflected in the endorsements.

I’m not giving up on McDonnell, but he lost a point in my book. FRegards ....
How can McDonnell justify speaking up for this jerk?

“[Conservatives are] going to destroy the f*cking [Republican] party...
Why would I want to be the leader of a party of such a**holes?”

I would rather have a clean government

If I had my choice, Id rather have a clean government.

“The fence is the least effective but I’ll build
the G****mned fence if they want it!”
U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, UNKNOWN
“Yet, he’s a politician so he’ll at times behave like one.”
Should we let McCainiac be the only one to apply political pressure?
People should let McDonnell know that they are knocking 10% off their future contributions to him for this one thing alone.
...besides, the Salvation Army would better make use of one's money than any politician.
LOL, your post doesn't contain much of a cite, does it? LOL.
“How about 100%? Since Palin egregiously misleading donors I have personally resolved not to ever again donate one red cent to any politician.”
If 10% of McDonnell voters told him that whatever future fundraiiser he wants, they instead contribute to Hayworth —I’m happy. And if another 10% of McDonnell supporters say no more to anyone and make it clear that supporting McCainiac is a betrayal of safe borders, great. But you need to contact him and tell him why. Be my guest. Save some bucks. Whatever.
I don’t fault Palin so much, but YES — McDonnell has me ticked off. I’m seriously disappointed in him. If a city gets nuked because of his support of McCain, maybe he should stick his hand in the goo of some kid — it would be his fault.
“It is no wonder, at all, that Jefferson’s most preferred place to be was at his home atop his little Virginian mountain. And our other greatest President preferred his California mountaintop abode to any populated environ.
Wonder why?”
George Washington never saw California. But he would roll in his grave to see such sickening PARTY above PRINCIPLE loyalty.
We must spank these guys when they do stupid things — not too hard and not too soft.
I’m a fantasy writer at heart — Arthur, an ideal I will never reach.
“March” went well with “Arthur”. Wanted a screen name that might double for a pen name one day.
Wildfire! — Was early cyber activist, back when massive driving to parties would have been too ambitious. Now these tea parties are essential, something I can’t participate in, so I’m a headline digger/organizer/etc.
FRiend, I’m glad you are sticking with Sarah. I lost a little respect for her AZ intervention, but it’s bearable since she was a running mate. FRegards ....
The Dinosaur DC establishment.
McCain is too old to fight his own fights?
my conclusion is that palin if firmly out of politics. She is comfortable with the role of personality.
She is just going to ______ tease the conservative until everyone figures it out.
“A bigger question: Is there a possible Conservative Democrate canidant in their AZ primary.”
I seriously doubt that any democrat is better than Hayworth or even as moderate as McCain. I’ve been inundated with AZ pings, and no Arizonan has mentioned one yet. Hayworth is a trade up from McCain, the key to safer borders, tax cuts, better judges, military budget, and El Numero Uno — FREE SPEECH. He was even endorsed by Mark Levin.
Thank you for the time. I hope Governor McDonnell listens to you. There is time for him to do the right thing and gain more solid support from the conservative base.
The same with Romney. I sided with Romney during the prez primary [took some heat for that] and will not support him again, this one issue being the last straw — he endorsed McCain. But if Romney sees the light before the primary, I would reconsider. Please note that Rush called out Romney for this too. Rush hasn’t endorsed Hayworth, but it’s clear he doesn’t like McCain one bit.

This is why I hate endorsements. It is one of the worst things about party politics. I wish this political party stuff hadn’t gotten started 200 years ago.
