“They are REALLY going to regret this.”

I plan on being a part of making that happen.

Seriously, I think a civil war in this country is inevitable. The only things in question are when and what starts it. The divide is too wide and hatred too great.

Are there enough Dims in the House who are willing to throw away their re-election prospects to impose this radical left wing agenda on America against the clear will of the majority? I’m afraid there might be. This is the thing that wouldn’t die, the one and only thing that needs a “death panel”.

I think you’re right in part. I think if they have 48 votes in the Senate for this, they’ll go ahead, hoping that the remaining votes will appear.

Ditto with the House, they figure they have 205 votes and they’ll just go for this.

They don’t have any other exit strategy. The best outcome for them is that this passes. The second-best outcome is that it is voted down. The worst outcome is that it dies like Clintoncare. That would demoralize the Left.

I had an interesting discussion with my son Monday before meeting with our financial advisor. I mentioned to my son that I was considering rolling over some traditional IRAs to Roth IRAs, pay the tax now to avoid having to pay tax when I begin withdrawing money from the Roths.

I mentioned this to my financial advisor and he indicated the circumstances under which this would be advisable. He also said that the government has enacted legislation to allow the tax incurred as a result of the rollover, to be split between tax years 2010 and 2011.

In addition to having no confidence that the government will uphold its agreement to keep Roth IRAs tax free, I considered the number of people who may indeed do this conversion and as a result, add an inordinate increase of tax revenue to Federal coffers in 2010 and 2011.

By doing so, obama and his minions can point to an increase in tax revenue, although it is truly a charade, and claim fiscal prowess as a result.

Of course the additional revenue going to Washington will be squandered and I surmise that in the not too distant future, Roth IRAs will, “due to the bleak economic outlook of our nation” and much to the rehearsed chagrin of the president, have to be taxed.

I hope I'm wrong.

The GOP got us into this mess-they should be strong arming Lincoln, Bayh, Brown, Landriue (sp?) and any other Dem who has demonstrated sense to bring them under 51 votes.

God, I hate people who think that the GOP has some sort of magic powers that they're refusing to use. The fault is with Democrats. Period.

Quote: “No one gets it. It is actually a pretty smart gamble on the Dems part. They are now forcing the GOP to run solely on rolling back what the Dems have done. . . “

How exactly is it a smart gamble to give your opponents ammunition? I mean the Republicans are being handed ammunition to last a lifetime. In 1994 the voters killed the democrats for even TRYING this. What do you think they are going to get for actually enacting this? This bill creates a disaster that will be killing Americans for generations to come and raising taxes through the roof (even before they raise taxes again after their so called “bi-partisan panel gets done). The hatred and resentment that will be created will only build as the people watch their sick loved ones sentenced to euthanasia.

Whether the dems like it or not, the American Public viewed the election in Mass. as a DIRECT repudiation of this healthcare plan. The fact that the dems have to pass this bill by changing the rules means the dems are nullifying that election. You really think that is a smart gamble? I think it smacks of desperation, arrogance and elitism, if not an outright coup d’etat.

Interesting that the sycophant media aren’t referring to this as the nuclear option. In fact they are running interference for their favored political party.

Clinton preferred to use reconciliation to pass HillaryCare in the 1990s, but he was dissuaded by West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd, who argued that it would be an abuse of the process. Mr. Byrd, author of a four-volume history of Senate rules and procedures, told the Washington Post last March that “The misuse of the arcane process of reconciliation—a process intended for deficit reduction—to enact substantive policy changes is an undemocratic disservice to our people and to the Senate’s institutional role,” specifically citing health reform and cap and trade.

Quote: “They will need a 2/3s vote to override a guaranteed Obama veto. It will never happen.”

You are correct but I put this forward. The resentment towards this bill is so strong, it is possible that the democrats suicide pact will damage them beyond their expectations. The Republicans could very well end up with those 2/3 majorities.

Finally, even with a simple majority, I believe that congress controls funding. Starvation is thy ally.

That won’t be enough. Biden can overrule the parlimentarian at any time. The Senate cannot be shut down indefinitely.

Kill this in the House, now.

After listening to the explanation of the process on FNC by Krauthammer a few days ago, it seems there is a process whereby an unlimited number of amendments can be put up for a vote. Since there is NO limit the Republicans can drag this out forever, seemingly.

I also heard the Vice President can rule on the Amendments but cannot stop them from being offered up. Unless Krauthammer was dead wrong, this thing is far from over.

Everyone: Reid has the votes for reconciliation in the Senate. He can afford to lose 9 votes and already so-called “moderates” like Landrieu have signed on.

The battle is in the HOUSE.

It’s past time to draft articles for impeachment... the constitution means nothing to those who took an oath to uphold it.

I don’t care what anyone says, there’s no way on earth this guy is a constitutional lawyer.

Even if he were, and a socialist... there would be smarter ways to do what they planned.

Since the hill and staff eugenicists have no regard for our lives, maybe someone will make it close to home for them.

He was a constitutional lawyer in the way that Bernie Madoff was an expert in investment law.
