“There is no punishment. We are trying to fix these people.... and it DOES NOT WORK.”
Yep! People have to WANT to be fixed in order for that to work. And since there is no “punishment” in prison anymore, they sit around, eat, drink, pass time and then get out with the same (if not worse) resentful feelings and thoughts that got them thrown into prison in the first place!
Making prison punishment, would encourage people to do better and WANT to do better. THEN you move them into the “rehab” phase. If that doesn’t work - back to the punishment phase; if it DOES work, then you give them probation and a chance at re-entering a normal life!
The punishment is missing from our system! It’s like grounding your kid to their room where they have a TV, stereo, video games, you take their food to them, they have a cell phone and a computer!
What exactly did you teach them? What did you do that will make them think twice about NOT doing it again? DUH!!!
I grounded my daughter to her room. When her time was up I told her she could come out now. She stayed another couple hours... drawing and reading and fidgetting with necklace beads and whatnot.
Those kids got it too good. They too soft!
Check this case out from here in Hampton Roads, VA area:
Sixteen year old girl raped and killed by a classmate and “friend.” A quote from the article (link below):
“Then, on April 10, 2008, after she came home from school, she was sexually assaulted and stabbed more than 40 times.”
The #@%&$le who did this to her pleaded guilty and got just 42years.
Hang him. In front of the courthouse. During the evening news. And broadcast it. Then dump his body in the woods for the buzzards.
